Default 6.0L truck motor and LS2

what are the differences? Heads are different along with intake but thats all I can gather.. what would be required to make one of these an LS2?

I would assume the truck has a cast iron block and the new ls2 is all aluminum, cam profile is diffrent as well as how accessories bolt up.

Otherwise??? They are two different materials.

LS2 has different sensor locations as well. Camshaft position is up front I believe, and the knock sensors have moved as well.

I think the biggest problems would be the knock sensors, and the alternator bracket.

I am putting an iron block into my Trans Am here in a couple weeks.

I am kinda confused what you are trying to do. Are you looking for a 6.0L iron block for your car?? If so, LQ4 or LQ9 are both 6.0L truck blocks.

I'm looking for a 6.0 or greater to transplant into my car...... I've been told the iron blocks sell cheaper therefore reducing the overal cost.. also that they can support more power..

I'm wanting to do this a learning project as well... I've never built a full engine... So building one from bottom to top is what i'm after.

Very roughly....the 6.0 and LS2 are fairly identical design. One is iron, one is aluminum.

Either will fit into your car. I choose iron because all the sensors line up, and it is stronger, although heavier.
Are you planning on staying N/A? Gonna spray it? TONS of variables to this.
