If the ls7 clutch does indeed fit ls1 powered cars, how about a clutch package with the ls7 clutch, pressure plate, and ls2 flywheel, plus whatever else might be needed (pilot bearing, etc.)...

The big question still remains... will the LS7 clutch/PP work with the LS1/6 flywheel. If it doesnt, you will be paying over $500 for the kit. Not really value for money when you can get an OZ700 kit for $940 which will handle significantly more power.

EDIT: Mike, I now see from the pics you posted that the Z06 Clutch/PP wont work with a LS1/6 flywheel as you need the raised mounting points. I wonder why GM did this?

I would certainly be interested in saving ~$400 for a clutch that still has good street manners, yet dosnt handle quite as much power as a textralia. I personally dont need to handle much more power. There are many other cam or h/c guys that probably wont need more than this clutch as well. Im not sure why any of them would want to spend almost double on the textralia unless it offers them some advantage.

Now this is just speculation, but lets say the kit costs about $550... That would only be about 150 more than other clutch kits that dont come with a flywheel. This package would presumably hold similar HP to between a stage 2 and stage 3 clucth, while hopefully retaining stock like street manners.

To me that would be a hell of a bargain. Now all we need is confirmation that it works, reports that it performs well and retains streetability, and lastly a good price!

You have a valid point. I may be going to 402ci and my thinking is biased.

I called the loacal dealership and they have the ls2 flywheel in stock $175. I am going to pick it up and then install the ls7 clutch tonight. I am going to use this on my ls2 402 that will be in my 93 rx7. My RX7 only weighs #2750 so I do not need a killer clutch, and I like feel of a stock clutch.

What's the weight of this setup versus say the 02-04 Z06 clutch setup? Good luck with the install-I hope it goes flawlessly. This would be a perfect setup for those looking for an upgrade to the old Z06 clutch.

Will the LS2 flywheel work on a LS1/6? I am looking for a stock mannored clutch and I don't need any more than the LS7 clutch can handle. You are right on Guitsboy. I'm extremely interested in knowing if this will work for my C5

I hope this setup does go as planned. You can buy the parts for ~500.00 and still have stock feel, excellent street manners, and great performance up to ~550 HP.

I'm game for this setup in my 99 TA M6 if it is compatable.

The ls7 clutch and PP bolted right up to the ls2 flywheel. It looks like everything will work just fine. I ran out of time tonight but I will post soon.

Wouldnt the gap be increased with the stand-offs at the bolting points on the LS2 flywheel? Are you sure you did not have the clutch disk on backwards creating a stand-off on the LS1 flywheel? I am still not 100% convinced that the LS7 PP cannot be used with a LS1 flywheel.

I discussed the gap problem with the other builders and we all agree that the only way that could happen is if he installed the clutch plate backwards. The plate is marked "flywheel side". Have him check that. Other than that, it is supposed to fit."
