Your are partially right and wrong. Spec has a C6 (LS2) flywheel but it will only work with their PP and not the OEM PP. I spoke to the tech this morning. I dont know if this is the same case for the Al Fidanza flywheel...

The SPEC 3 and RAM 931hd will both hold much more. More power comes from changing the friction material (very abrasive) and reducing the surface area as seen in the different clutch stages. The SPEC 3 is a 6 puck disc the stage 4-5 are 4 puck. This allows greatly increased pressure to be localized in fewer spots but it loses street manners. The stage five's clamping power is so strong it is like an off on switch.

The LS7 clutch increases clamping load by just upping everything (pressure and surface area) but it allows streetability by not reducing surface area and staying with a material that still slips for easy engagement. The increase is not much though. That clutch will not fare well with 500rwhp+. The other downside is weight. The flywheel option is the fidanza aluminum LS2 unit.

Andy from A&A corvettes runs a C5 clutch in his C6. What issues did you have? I have RAM931hd/fidanza+a shim --C5 in my C6. It does work.

From the past clutches that GM has put out, the material just can't hold up to much abuse. If your looking for a daily driver clutch, this could be ok, but if you frequent the track or street race a good bit, I don't see it lasting to much longer than a stock clutch. SPEC has just released there new Stage 3r, which is a iron based material and has a similar pattern to the stock clutch disk. No more pucks unless you want them. This clutch is rated at 750hp and is supposed to have much better driveability than the past Spec 3's. I just got mine the other day. Here's a pic:

BEAST96Z, please let us know when you install this clutch. Let us know if it chatters or not. Being an owner of 2 spec 3 clutches (with very good break in procedures), its hard to believe that this spec 3r clutch wont chatter at all. So let us know what you find out!

MAS280, Hows the drivability on the LS7 Z06 clutch??? We're dying here to know how it behaves... keep us updated please

very interested here...i plan on just a couple bolt-ons for now, so when i do have to swap my stock LS2/6 unit out, it would be great to just bolt this right up and have a streetable clutch that'll take a bit more abuse.

Probably not what you had intended when you wanted to find a clutch with more bite. Hope you heal up quickly. As much as I want to know how this clutch works out, I also want to see how much you enjoy that rocketship of a car.

Today I had a friend come by and help me bleed the clutch. Everything works just fine, the Clutch Engagement works just like the stock clutch. The pedal pressure is about 15% higher than the z06 but it is still very nice. I hope to start working on the car again late next week, so 3-4 weeks and it will be up and running.

Glad to hear! I hope your hand healed up well. I cant wait to hear how she behaves on the street. Thanks for keeping us up to date.

Ive been driving my clutch a little harder lately hoping to kill off whatever life is still remaining so that I too can swap to the new ls7 clucth. 85K miles but i just cant bring myself to replace a clutch that isnt slipping yet.

Good to hear it's going well. I think you just sealed the deal for me on my eventual clutch purchase.
