LS7 clutch pics
The LS7 clutch is on the left and the zo6 (2002)clutch is on the right. Notice how much more surface area the ls7 has vs the 2002 z06.

The ls7 presure plate will bolt up but there is too much gap between the presure plate and the ls1 flywheel. It looks like you can take the surface disk off of the ls7 PP and mount it on the z06 pp and it will work. Or you can buy the ls7 flywheel.
Does anyone have a bad z06 PP that I can take apart to make this work?

It may have more surface area but in teh wrong area. Having more surface area closer to teh center of the hub is borderline usless. It will handle more power but not a ton more. The not make a larger flywheel like the viper has? GL

Bearman (GM engineer) from LS7Power says it will fit prior years. It has a stiffer spring configuration to accept the higher rpm's put out by the LS7. I think Fred Beans has these in stock and MAS280 bought his for $286.
So now the question is; Can you use this clutch if you buy a C6 Z06 flywheel and will the this flywheel fit onto the LS1?

My plan was to put this clutch on my 402 ls2, for my 93 rx7. I want to put the motor in my car next Monday so it looks like I will not be able to put this clutch in my car right now. I will try to put the ls7 clutch in at a later time, it looks like I might need to just buy the ls7 flywheel.

How will this compare to a Star Spec Stage 3? I realize it quite a bit cheaper but will it really hold up to 500hp+ abuse. I mean the ZO6 clutch is barely adecuate for the power output of a Z06. I'm sceptical because GM sometimes tend to make some oddball decisions like putting a 7.5 10bolt on a 300+hp car.

What is the unknown here is what spring is being used in the cover. By simply increasing the area of the disk the unit loading (psi) is reduced. I suspect that the spring is much stiffer than an LS6 clutch.
