Default LS7 intake and heads

GM parts direct has them both listed now

Intake-12569011 251.48 (decent)
heads- 12578450 515.35 no too bad..

I pretty sure the heads are bare though... but this would make a great package to your LS1,2 or 6 thats for sure.

How does the LS7 intake manifold compare to the LS6 manifold? Will it bolt up to an LS1 block?

ls6 and ls7 heads use different port designs, so you will need to get the ls7 head/intake together. you cannot use the ls6 intake with ls7 heads or viceversa

The LS7 cylinder heads will support a bigger cubic inch engine. It has increased airflow, and more airflow potential!

LS-7 Heads and intake will not work very well on stock (346 CUIN)displacement motors........big ports and valves will kill torque and bottom end. You will need big cubes or a highly modified, high RPM 346 CUIN motor to take advantage of them......

just like AFR 185's VS. 225's..... bigger is not always better.

my $.02

You guys do understand that a 2.20" intake valve will not fit a 346 (3.89" bore x 3.622" stroke) right? Or atleast not without some radical *** valve centerline and a very very small exhaust valve. I don't think these will work on anything significantly under a 4.125" bore but I maybe wrong on that. Anybody try them yet on a 4.030" bore?

The LS7 Cylinder head will not fit on any bore smaller than about 4.060. I have some flow sheets & detailed specs on the heads, but they will only fit big bore applications.

6.0l block=4.0" bore. safest you can go up to is 4.060 but that is really pushing the limits of the block and most iron blocks wont sonic test at that bore.

Best bet to use these heads is a resleeved ls1 or ls2 block. I believe darton just came out with a dry sleeve for the ls2 which will let you go 4.125-4.160" which would work very well with these heads.

OK I know this may sound stupid but could you put new seats in the heads and use a smaller intake say a 2.18? I know it would kill some of the flow but they should still flow better than most heads. I plan on building a 408 and I am looking for the best combo to make the most power. Thanks for any input.

Yea I am sure that can be done, but GM will soon have a new head that uses the same port configuration as the LS7 that has a smaller valve for smaller bores.
The New head will use the stock LS1 valve train.Should be available sometime after the first of the new year.
