Default LS7 Crate Motors could be shipping within two weeks!!!

I talked to an "insider" at GM Perf Parts and asked "when are the LS7 crate engines going to ship?" and they replied "Hopefully within in a couple of weeks"!!!!

Unfortunately no update on the PCM availability or the accessories. Even though GM "is working it" they felt more comfortable that an aftermarket solution to the PCM was going to be available before GM's is

They also mentioned that components like complete heads and blocks were still a few months out.

It sucks, but the solution is going to be a "tricker" box, or a pull the crank and press on an earlier reluctor wheel.

Good to know though...

What about mounting a LSx reluctor wheel to the back of the damper and a crank sensor right off of it?

You would have to either pin the crank or key it, but it might get some people running.

Default Probably Delphi MEFI IV

GMs answer to any Stand Alone crate engine question in recent months is the Delphi MEFI IV until the OEM PCM packages become available for everyone to Hack, excuse me Upgrade!

I bet the EMS system from Australia will work. In their software setup you can define any number of teeth on the crank wheel.

the reluctor wheel on the back of the pulley would be great for guys that have an ls1 already and it would probably work also with the right brakets but i would i would worry about rust but sure you could coat it with something but it is something to think about. they have a way to make the cam work now right? i know the knocksensors will not work but thats not a huge problem really

Sure you could run any number of standalone systems. BS3,FAST, FAST XFI, Mega Squirt, etc....

For most of us we're running GM ECU's. The ECU is integrated into the car, its most cost effective to use the GM ECU, and it will do everything we need. Hence the drive to figure out how to retrofit it to a GM ECU.

The BS3 will run a 60-2 wheel. The crank is the same in the back, so a 24X wheel could be installed with a r&r of the crank. The 24X wheel will need re-balance on a 427.

I think if you're spending the cash for the crate motor, it wouldnt be too much more trouble to sped 2500 on BS3 (I think its less than that even). Then you could tune it easier and if you have an auto it will run your trans.

Now, will the dry sump be an easy set up if you have the lines and tank?
