I was thinking can i put Z06 heads on my trans am..my friend just trashed his z06 but his engine is intact and we actually had an idea to put them on my car but port and polish them..and if they do work..id get them for free...if so what kind of gains would i be looking at

 

Which z06 heads are you speaking of? ls7, ls6???? LS7 heads and stock ls1/ls6 bore is not going to work

 

if its the ls7 then yes, but you need a bigger bore to match and the intake..... if its the ls6 Z06 heads, then yeah, they bolt right on, even up to your ls1 intake.

If you dont have the ls6 intake already, then get the intake and heads and you'll be alright.. the ls6 is a good upgrade for the money.

 

Your gains will be relative to your setup. The intake port flows a substantial bit more then the ls1; however, the exhaust port is not that much better. You will probably see about 15-20 rwhp with a stock style cam and 30-40 rwhp with a much larger cam. For free it's a no-brainer, GO FOR IT. If you don't want them I'm sure I can find some one who does, heh heh.

 

well now since they do bolt right on..im defently going for it no doubt i just wanted to be sure ; )
