Default LS1/LS7 Hybrid?

Okay guys quick question. Ive heard both yesses and nos. Will some SLP heads made for the LS1 fit onto the LS7 block?

yes but SLP heads on a big bore motor = a sinny sin sin

i doubt they flow what a 427 needs

I was told on other forums they do not, so I contacted SLP, and I immediately got a reply that just said No, without any reasons why, then a week later, I recieved another reply thats aid they had not tried and were not sure. So do you guys think they will fit or not? Im not sure. Ive seen the SLP heads work very well on a few LS1 427 would and LS7 427 need more flow? I wouldnt think so with them being the same displacement.

I'd go with AFR225's, if you wouldn't want to go with stock LS7 castings.

The heads should "fit" however id bet they are saying no due to the fact the bore is so much larger on the block than on the head.

alolt of guys dont like running things like that, the ls7 is a dumed down version of the C5R block, that one will work with stock heads so this one sure should as well

I'd imagine they would fit. Since LS7 head will fit onto an LS1 block, should LS1 heads go onto an LS7 block? However, SLP heads will not be big enough for that many cubes.

This topic was addressed on another site devoted to the new gun (LS7).

Interchangability of heads between LS1, LS6, LS2, the truck motor (Lq6 I think) and the LS7.

The main issues discussed were:

1. bore sizes vs valve sizes vs valve spacing vs valve angles (11 vs 12)

2. intake port shapes vs manifold size and etc.

3. exhaust port shape (round vs D)

Yes there are some considerations when mixing and matching!
