Default Just ordered my 408!! What Cam?

Just got back from G-Force. Ordered my iron 408 from LME with a set of ET 240 heads. Man I can`t wait to see this put together! As you can see in my sig I have everything to bolt to this. The only thing we haven`t decided on was a cam. I`m running a A4 and drive on the street. What do you think fellas! How big should I go with the cam and what company, I want a good lope with this! I`m going to spray a 200 shot on top!!!

i'd say 24x/25x duration @.050 with .625-.650 lift on a 112.

comp makes a xer287hr (part #54-448-11) thats 238/240@.050 .605/.609 on a 112 lsa. the 112 lsa makes for the lopier idle, good on juice, and you want a lil more dur and lift on the exhaust side. this would be good, or you could go bigger. this is an XER lobe too.

I will have to ask Ben. He ordered them. They should flow close to 340 at 600 lift. But I will let Ben chime in and let us know! Again, Ben promised me a MONSTOR of a set-up. I don`t think they are going to do me wroung!

I tried to post in this thread earlier but Brains was doing some upgrades.

With Wiseco's Off-The-Shelf 408 LS1 piston and a 6.0L GM MLS gasket the chamber volume needs to be 66CC's for 11:1 compression. That is what we've ordered.

The other set of 240CC heads that we used flowed 336 @ .600 on a 4.000" bore. They went on a 382 that made 470 RWHP with a grandma cam. We're going to add a FAST 90/90 and some Kooks 1 7/8th headers and try to make 500 RWHP with his wife-loving cam (Think stock cubic-inch sized cam). On a 4.030" bore they will go over 340 for sure. I wouldn't even be supprised to see 350 @ .650. Craig said we should see the heads in about 3 weeks.

The cam will probably be in the low/mid 240's @ .050 for intake duration. With David's bolt-ons I'm expecting to see 530 RWHP through his A4. On his 200 shot 750 would be a nice number don't you think David?

Levi, these heads sell for $2,650 fully assembled and ready to run. PM me if you're interested.

I think ET is going to make some good internet business with this set-up. I will get Ben to put the dyno sheet up when where done! Thanks Ben for the update! Ben and crew are great people!

You think your stoked? I've got a LSX 454 w/ ET 265's coming. That along with a Harrop 8 ID throttle body intake. I've been waiting over 3 months now, so you can imagine i'm anxious. Sounds like you'll have a sweet set-up to.

I didn't know if I was gunna be able to spray or not because of the longer stroke and the way it would stack the rings. After Eric made a few calls, he found that we could order the sleeves in a longer design, so now the rings have a standard 1/16, 1/16, 3/16 stack. Spray wasn't in my plans, but since I know it is now an option, I may buy a NX 150 kit and see what happens. I also went with the 454 so I could use the old SS/454 badges on the side. I may look into putting some 454 badges on the cowling of th eSS hood to.

New GM 6.0L Iron Block, Eagle 4.000" Forged 4340 Steel Crankshaft, Callies Compstar 6.125" Forged 4340 Steel Connecting Rods, Wiseco -8cc Reverse Dome Pistons, Childs & Albert Dura-Moly Rings, Clevite77 Main, Rod, and Cam Bearings, ARP Main/Head Studs, and a Custom COMP Cam.

The heads are ET Performance 245CC 11* Heads. They have 2.080/1.600 Valves, REV Stainless Steel Valves, Manley Valvesprings, Locks, and Retainers, good to .650" lift. Combustion Chamber size is 64cc's. Compression will be exactly 11.3:1 using the stock GM 6.0L MLS Headgasket.

This is what the set-up looks like, with all the stuff I have in my sig to go with it. Will be bumping the shot to a 200!!!!!

Some nice engines.

With a 408, if you are willing to sacrifice some bottom end, you probably could go even bigger. 250/260 range. If you are willing to live with the loppy high idle, you could move the LSA all the way down to 106 or so to get some dynamic compression back.

The hydraulic lifter cars use much smaller cams than the solid lifer engines. If you are hydraulic, why not an LSK lobe, at least on the intake. It will maximize your curtain area, complementing you heads.

If you are going solid, well, you can get pretty radical.

Mr. Beast96Z, it sounds like you will have a gorgeous motor. How are you handling the ECU without a MAF? How high do you expect to rev it? And I would love to hear about your throttle response when you get it, which may be surgically precise

I know I could have went bigger on the cam, but mine is a A4 and I drive it daily. Track, maybe 6-8 times a year. Full A/C and all. Very important to be drivable!

I already have a speed density tune in the ECU from Futral just to get it cranked. I then plan to trailor down there for the rest of the dyno tune. Since the car is going to be mostly street, I don't plan to rev past 7k. I'll be stying Hydraulic and will prolly run a 250'ish/.650'ish lobe on a 110. Feel free to PM me if you want more info, I don't want to thread jack.
