I've always been told and practiced the same thing, standard oil for 500 miles than change. Hard driving but not ragging on it, standard oil again and than another 5000 miles being hard on it. Rings seat well and should have very little leakdown.

20 min heat cycle, cool down 20 min heat cycle, cool down Then hit the road. My 408 did this then went right to the dyno

with less than 10 miles on it

Breaking in just a new engine is different than breaking in a new engine, rear and trans. You have to heat cycle the rear properly before beating on it.
