I think it looks good. But if you have hit 37 ftlbs and than gone the 145 degrees past that you will have put enough pressure (I used my 6 foot aluminum jack handle as a cheater bar) to get the balancer on all the way.

I misunderstood when you said LS6 PCV I assumed you had the LS6 valley cover. You obviously have the correct one for the LS2 block.

I would think that you could just loosen the cover bolts and it would center itself on the balancer unless the sealer that you used prevents it from moving. I asked in another thread what the white sealant that GM uses in those two spots is. It look like pipe thread sealer, but I don't know if that is really what it is. Whatever it is, it doesn't have the adhesive properties of the silicone RTV sealer and wouldn't prevent the cover from moving. In any case, don't go by what I said, because I'm just repeating what I read. Find out from someone that knows. It does seem to make sense that the method I described would allow the seal to put even pressure arond the balancer.

Smack the socket lightly with a small sledge hammer to get the pilot bearing positioned right. Then, go to town and smack its *** flush with the crank.

I brought this up because on his eagle crank, the hole is too big. THe pilot bearings dont fit. You have to add meterial to them by brazing or have a custom one made. So the freezer wont work.

Good point! I did not use the old lifter trays just the old bolts.

To Rick and Dragon,

OK, I am alittel slow on this.

This was an assembled shortblock from SLP.

Could someone please show me a pic of this pilot bearing? Does it slip over the input shaft for the tranny?

Here is a picture of the back of the motor.

Is what you are talking about visible here?

The rear main seal is on good. I slipped the inner seal around the shaft and shoehorned it in to the inside. The outer one is to the outside. And I did use the crank to line this one up.

98Z28CobraKiller - You are referring to the LS6 coolant lines. You need these so the LS6 or FAST intake can seat properly. You can buy them from a GM dealer.

Oh, I already have them. I just need to know what you hook the hose part that sticks out too. Is it supposed to go into the bottom of the throttle body for that pass thru that people say you should bypass? I live in Florida. I don't ever need my throttle body heated.

I notice the pistons are notched. Did you specify them this way? Or did they come like this.

Yes, it looks like the pilot bearing is already installed, so don't sweat it!

No, that is for water. The PCV is relieving crankcase pressure. Someone posted a nice pix on this thread of the short U shaped pcv hose and valve. Simply buy one for the LS6 and it will work.

I still (I had the LS6 valley cover on my LS1 H/C motor) get a lot of oil in the pcv system so have added a paper filter (simply got one from the autoparts store for <I recall> fuel filter) to the pcv system between the nipple you are talking about and the TB.

Works nicely. In fact I probably need to replace it soon as it is getting dirty (clear filter housing with paper filter inside).

They came like this. I bought the shortbolck assembled and the matching heads and cam all from SLP. It is all "supposed to be" designed to work together flawlessly.

OK. I got another question. Where does this sensor go on the new block?

Or does it just not go in the new block?

Hi Folks
That is the Cam sensor - you have SLP short block, I thought the sensor came with the block - you may have one already installed up front.

Yep, you already have the sensor installed on your new front cover. That is the camshaft position sensor, also called a cam sensor. Here it is circled in green:

OK. So that answers one of my questions. Now, where is the other relocated sensor? I believe that it is a knock sensor that is located somewhere different as there is no knock sensor in the valley cover any longer. I just can't seem to find a spot for it.
