Default Burning some oil

Just wanted to pick on some brains and se what you guys think.
My car is burning about 1 1/2 quarts a week only smokes when you stand in it and when you let off and coast back down to speed. very light smoke when it sits and idles.
Here are my leak down #s and compression readings
#1 12% and 225
#2 8% and 230
#3 8% and 235
#4 5% and 225
#5 12% and 240
#6 11% and 235
#7 5% and 230
#8 10% and 235

I can only think that it is in the valve seals but any other opinions out there any help would be nice before i pull this thing back out this weekend.
Thanks
Jon

I thought exceptable leakdown numbers were 5-7%. If thats true than the 10, 11 and 12's are bad.

Don't feel bad, my leakdown numbers for all 8 holes when I had a ring problem were in the friggin 30's and 40's percentage-wise. When I took my oil fill cap off and revved it to up to about 2,000rpm it felt like a 200mph leaf-blower coming out of there.

But maybe yours is the valve seals.

Is all the oil loss coming from combustion? I had a problem with my freeze plug on my Eagle crank leaking causing about the same loss. The only reason I found out was because it caused th clutch to slip.

Mt motor exhibits the exact same symptoms, burns about 1qt a week, smokes on heavy throttle and occasionally at idle. I replaced the valve seals and it did not help the situation.. Leak down is my next step.

Do you get puffs of air coming from the oil fill cap? Start it up and feel it with your hand, rev it up a little. If yes, your ring(s) are bad.

Did you use thread sealer or loctite on the rocker arm bolts?
My car does the same thing and I can't find any problems. I just switched to 5w40 cause I have been hearing mobil1 5w30 is way to thin.

If you look the holes go all the way through to the intake ports. The service manual says to use thread sealer. I used blue loctite(which is sealer too)
It may not be your problem but its worth a shot.

I need some help havent figured it out yet and I dont want to pull the motor to try to figure my problem out. There is no air comin out of the oil cap. I am going to loctite the rocker bolts today and try that. It still burns about 1 1/2 qts a week

Question

How much oil do you run in your oil pan? LS1 Fbody pan should only have 5 quarts in it. Any more than this and crank will skim oil up into spinning assembly and you will burn it thru pcv system. Leak down will not always show a problem with rings ability to clear oil off cylinders and keep it from getting into combustion area. You might try thorough ring cleaning procedure to unstick oil ring expander and rails.

Hey I figured out it is valve seals. Pulled the intake on Sat. and all the intake valves are covered in oil. I sealed the roker bolts on Fri. and it didnt help so I pulled the intake. Which seals should I get?
