I've done a search on this subject and I cant really find a definate answer where anyone is sure..
Will an LS1 style cam work in an LS2 block? If not, what are the differences?

cam sensor is on the front, and the computer reads it differently, but the cam itself is the same.

Yup. The LS2 has a different timing set. I got a pretty good look at it when it broke and shot through my timing cover
