Default No wonder the ZO6 LS7 HP gets choked at high intake air temps!

I just received my HPT and started examining a stock ZO6 LS7 PCM file. Look what happens to the timing when the air intake temperature goes up!!!

Wow -9 at 140F. The Z06 is not going to like the summer heat. For the people who dont have the HPtuner or EFI V2 Flashscan it would be a good idea to relocate the IAT away from the engine heat.

John, I think you just convinced me to go the extra mile and move my air intake in front of the radiator. I was putting that off until I saw your chart. Thanks.

-13 degrees at some places? Jeebus. Good thing I have a stupid ls1...at least for timing issues at least.

Rather than modify your cold air induction system, why not just edit the table? I assume most of you will be doing tuning anyway.

Is it necessary to pull that much timing? What does the high octane timing table look like? Couldn't be THAT aggressive...

looks similar to most LS1 files so depending upon iat alot of the time you'll only be running 15-20* at wot.

LS2 powered Corvettes have very similar tables. I had Jayson at MTI edit those in my C6 and the car went from 12.90s to 12.40s at the track. Before the edit, I would have to let the car cool down for 20-30 min between passes to stay in the 12s. After the tuning, I could hotlap the car non-stop in the 12.40s.

How much is average on cool motors, tuned vs untuned, headers, no cats, cat back system, and a lid?

I could believe it if the computer was being unnecesarily safe with the timing.

Its not that aggressive. GM pretty much just put it in for saftey reasons. I have done a couple LS7 cars now and have been working with the PCM. There tuning is funny in this one. You will find you cant always make much more power on the car, then sometimes you can. The temps, and other things affect this car pretty well. The AFR is the one thing that needs to be fixed on all of them, it pretty much dumps alot of fuel.

Its an OEM, the harshest of conditions were tested and then tuned and mapped for. WOT in the Mojave with 87 octane, what would you do?

No, my tune wasn't worth half a second. I could have ran identical times had I let the car sit for over an hour and cool down between passes. The first time I ran it, I came right off the highway and made passes, the engine was never cool. Timing suffered the entire night. After the tuning (and 160F thermostat) the engine stayed cool and my timing didn't get pulled. It just ran consistent then.
