Rod bolts have been fine in LS1's since 2001, so I would assume LS2 rod bolts are fine.

They're like the first thing to fail at high RPM in a stock bottom LS1

I just bought some ARP rod bolts for my LS2.. figured that since I am swapping oil pans I might as well go with the better bolts..

ARP now makes front cover, water pump, intake manifold and oil pan bolts!

People with LS2s are still buying ours for added insurance. I don't know the tensile strength of the stock bolt, but ours are 160,000 psi.

Do a search and most people say the 2001 and newer rod bolts are good for any stock bottom end up to 7000 rpm. Depends on what you want to do with the engine or do you just want to spend money?

I think hes trying to avoid that by upgrading the bolts.

You might want to double check your tensile strength rating, I believe they are higher then that - 240-260,000 psi

All depends what he wants to do. Is he building a race engine that is going to rev past 7000 quite often, then it's a good deal. If he is going to keep it stock and not rev past 6500 then it's a big waste of money!

Thats not completly true...GM Started using the rod bolt that is in the LS6 and LS2
in the LS1 in the 2000 model year. Thats why I didnt do the MS3 cam on my 98Z but did
on my 00 with it shifting at 6800. The bolt can hold 6800 all day while the 97-99 design is
only rated too 6400.
