Default First oil change in a new engine

I just changed the oil in my new LS2 402 after driving it 250 miles home from the builder.

The used oil has a definite metallic sheen to it and under the magnifying glass it is FULL of very tiny metal particles.

The engine seems to run fine.

Do I have a problem?

Thanks,

Mike

i would talk to your builder
give them heads up in case there is a problem
may just be stuff working out of assembly, but I'd be watching it

It's hard to tell in the pics exactly how much is in the oil, but I would expect some in the initial couple of oil changes.

Default Metal in oil

I've got a call in to the engine builder.

Basicaly all of the tiny flecks you see in the oil in the pictures is metal.

I'd save your sample or the entire volume of what you have drained and take it with you to show and discuss with your "builder".
