ported LS2 intake questions
also what exactly IS the restriction? some say its from being produced that pieces dont line up. any pics that i can see to show this?
any help would be great.
In stock form the LS2 does appear to trail the LS6 in flow. In ported form I'm not convinced. The ported LS2 should kick the LS6's ***. I'll post what I find out.

When I measured the port dimensions before and after porting, they were over 10% larger than stock after. Not exactly an insignificant change, but I guess the dyno will tell the real story.

This seems to show that the LS2 has "some" potential. It seems like you could port one of these and have a decent 90mm manifold. According to the tests in this article the LS2 has a higher and sooner peak than the LS6. Any more thoughts. I may have to give one of these ported LS2's a try.

Those are nice gains. I wish you had an LS6 intake dyno to compare those numbers with. What size injectors are you running?

The ported LS2, on the other hand, is doing nicely already. It kind of irks me that the LS2 intake has such bad press when it is always tested in stock form. One look at the smooth ports of the LS6 vs the many edges inside the LS2 explains a lot. A ported LS2 is a different animal in my opinion and I think it was written off early because it requires a bit of work and the LS6 or FAST will drop right on the LS1/6's. Why would a shop invest in working on ported ones when they can just sell what they know works. No R&D time or expenses required.
While I can't speak for other porters work, I know that my own version is very different from stock. I also like that we've got hot gain Dyno numbers on Dave's (Z06-Dave) intake. With a 14 minute interval between stock vs ported its darn good proof of gains. My CTS-V with stock thermostat loses 10 hp per run (at 5 minute intervals) if no cooldown is given.
