No, we have a different spring. He just asked about that so I told him the specs. They are $16/ea and 65 grams.

Don't forget about thicker wall push rods...

you mean the stainless steel valves are heavy and with such size they will need strong spring?

so shall i go with the factory valves 2.200" titanium intake 1.60" sodium exhaust?

the factory intake is expensive. how much can i get factory valves for the LS7 heads intake and exhaust?

is the exhaust valve the same as the LS6 heads?

thanks.

yes, go with the factory 2.2 titanium valves.

the factory intake is extremely CHEAP. look at the sticky up top, it has all the pricing

Well, everyone, for an update, the 446CI project maybe terminated. Some unfortunate things happened, so now I'm looking at my options to get this motor built as soon as possible. I deploy to Iraq in about a month, and I've been waiting for the motor for over a month now...
I'm working with Dave Diluca now on getting the parts that I need and this motor built so I need things to ship by monday at the latest if at all possible. Things I'm looking for right now are...

Eagle 4.0" Crank (because if I use a 4.1" crank then I'll have to get custom pistons which may take too long to get..)
I'm also looking at the Diamond 4.125" pistons, but I'm not sure if they have pistons on shelf for LS7 intake/exh valves and angles. I've heard they do, but I can't confirm at this point, so if anyone knows please post up! If I can get custom pistons within 5-7 days (i'm local, can pick them up) then I will go with the 4.1" stroke 4.16" bore, but I doubt that'll be possible even with expediting the order.
I've looked at Katech's LS7 Pistons, but I will like to use 6.125" rods, but their pistons are for a 6.1" max rod, plus i'd like atleast 11.5: SCR but theirs are only for 11:1...i talked extensively with Jason Friday evening, good guy.
As far as the block goes, Taylor was able to get me the LS2 block resleeved with Darton LS7 sleeves and that will be shipping on monday. So one the key items will be here next week.
Dave has also got rods that I will be using from him.

I would like if at all possible to get things shipped out Monday, so I'm looking towards everyone here for help in tracking things down that are in stock.

I'm really under the biggest time crunch here, so any help anyone can give I would GREATLY appreciate!!

Best Regards to everyone,
Adrian Mejia

Oh, I've also already got pretty much everything else that I need for the build including LS7 heads assembled with Katech springs/retainers, I have the cam coming on its way, will have the JP double roller from Dave, and i have the LS7 intake/fuel rail.

I'm waiting on the LS7 GM head gaskets as its not totally sure if I'll be going with a 4.125 bore or a 4.16, it all depends on how long it will take for the pistons. So, if anyone has any of the LS7 GM head gaskets, I would like to get them now just incase.

All the other things such as ARP main studs/head bolts and misc LS2 coversion stuff I already have or will order from SDPC on monday.

Thanks again!

I'm not sure why you think Katechs pistons are only good for 11:1 SCR?? you can manipluate the SCR with head CC and gasket thickness easily

Adrian

Sorry to hear that you might not build the 446. I have been following your thread. If you decide to do a 427, I might be able to help out. If you are interested, I have and could ship out Monday any of the items listed below:

1) A Callies 4" stroke crank

2) Two types of new 4.125 pistons for use with 4" stroke and 6.125" rods.

2A) First set are Diamond 4.125 pistons with a 7cc dish, to be used with 6.125 rods.

2B) Second set are JE Custon psitons with 10 cc dish. Also for 6.125 rods.

If interested you can PM me, or email me plewand@soflinks.com

Thanks, Perry

Default head gaskets for large bore LS2

The Cometic LS1 MID specific head gasket works on the LS2 sleeved blocks. They are available up to 4.200" bore in various thicknesses.

Note that the standard LS1 gasket will not work. The coolant holes in the gasket will line up only with the MID specific Cometic head gasket.

This is true, but thats also at the cost of Piston to Valve clearances.

Rollin Black, if the pistons are good for the intake size/angle of the LS7 head, then I may definitely be interested!!

Steve - Thank you very much for the tip! I didn't realize that was the case, so Cometic MID LS1 specific head gaskets its going to have to be.

Anyone with any tips on whether Diamond has a LS7 specific piston yet or not would be great!! I will be calling them first thing Monday!

Best Regards!!
Adrian

Are you saying that the LS2 sleeved blocks need the MID specific gasket even if you don't have a MID block? Just wondering cause I was fixing to order the Regular 4.190" gaskets tonight.

Default gaskets

Correct, use the MID gasket on the dry sleeved large bore LS2.

The coolant slots on the LS2 blocks are slightly outboard of the bore centerline from those of the earlier LS1 LS6 blocks by the same distance we moved the coolant holes on the MID LS1 LS6 Cometic gaskets. That's why they work.

If you use a standard large bore LS1 gasket on an LS2 or LS7 block, the small coolant holes in the gasket will be blocked by half.

So, my question is.... shouldn't we be able to just use the LS7 GM head gasket? I would think that they would make the gasket so it wouldn't be blocking off half of the coolant holes...

Please clarify!

Thanks!

According to Katech, the GM LS7 gaskets are on back order till infinity.... That's why they stock cometic.

Thanks for the info Steve.
