What cam match to AFR 205 heads and headers and tune will get 500rwhp on LS2 C6 Coupe
Helping a friend with a new C6 Coupe reach his n/a goal of 500rwhp with heads, cam, headers and a good tune and i figured AFR 205 heads along with a perfectly matched aggressive cam, but not obnoxious, as he wants very decent street manners, would get it done.
What cam specs are getting it done with AFR 205 heads on the LS2 motor to make 500 at the wheels (on a manual tranny car). My educated guess is that a cam with specs of around 234/240, with a .610 or so lift on a 112 or 113 lsa would get it done. Keep in mind that car will not be raced and will be a street car, but he wants good street manners but the power to at least hang or beat the new C6 Z!
What is the proven cam so far that rocks the LS2 motor with the best heads that $ can buy?

Look into the Hellion cam. So far it has the best results for an LS2. I would also suggest stepping up to the AFR 225's or the ETP 225's.
My buds C6 with the Hellion cam package, LGM LT's, Custom AZP&S exhaust, FAST 90 intake and Halltech intake filter made 455RWHP and 408RWTQ.

Tony from AFR made 480rwhp IIRC from his 346 with 205's and 224/228 cam. Id talk to him about your combo given you are using his heads. He will give you a recipie that will get you there. Just remember to take your wallet. You will probably want/need a Fast90/90 setup too.

Thanks BRO!

Oh and yes as said you'll also need the FAST 90 intake. The cam will make over 500RWHP with a good set of heads and supporting mods (full exhaust, FAST 90mm intake, CAI, yada yada).

500 Rwhp C6....
I was just involved in a magazine project you guys will all see shortly....anyway we fitted a bonestock 364 LS2 engine with our 205 heads retaining the stock compression with 65 cc chambers and with the addition of a custom cam and one of my ported FAST 90's saw 575 flywheel HP on the same dyno my solid roller 383 made 610 (a slightly more aggressive build with 225 heads).
Bottom line is that equates to right at 500 RWHP in a six speed C5 (my 610 HP combo produces around 535 RWHP). Very impressive for a bolt-on 6.0 litre with no piston notching or any other time consuming fanfare (stock rocker arms as well). The cam was a custom I had ground with only a 230' intake lobe and a 114 LSA so its very smooth and tractable and would make a great choice in a daily driver (slight chop at a 900 RPM hot idle). In fact the magazine editor was looking for just that....a combination that was still streetable and could in fact be used as a daily driver (with a slight penalty in fuel economy) but would still punch a big number on the dyno and at the track. In the right car with a decent driver thats easy high ten second power (mid tens at a track close to sea level and a good driver).
If any of you guys are looking for more info, don't hesitate to drop me a line here at AFR....(818)890-0616 Ext. 109
Thanks,
Tony

This story will be featured in PHR....hits the newstands the end of August.
Supporting mods would include a well designed header with 1.75 primary pipes (the dyno headers had a merge collector BTW), a shortblock in good condition, and the right tune. I would also install an underdrive pulley when you put the timing cover back on. The rest of the components were mentioned in my original reply.
If you have any situations or questions specific to your situation pick up the phone or drop me a quick email.....I would be more than happy to help you out. This combination was exceptional and very easy to duplicate....just add money....LOL

Listen to Tony. The largest cam is not what always makes power....Just the right cam. Our LS6 Z06 just made 474hp with his 205 head and our 228/230 cam. Of course the addition of Tony's Manifold and TB were a good choice as well. You will actually be seeing this car in a Mag in the next few months as well. So if I were you, give Tony a call, and I promise you wont be disappointed. Hope this helps.

Edit: Yup I just confirmed it. There is a vandor on here that sells the HELLION cam... So I would think youc aould talk about it as much as you want..
I will not mention the vendors name since I don't paticularly like them

As stated it's a 230/232 114 LSA (with 2 degrees of timing ground in). Lift is just under .600 - FAST 90mm intake, AFR heads, 1 7/8 stepped long tubes, COMP cam (hardened pushrods, stock rockers). Heads had their upgraded springs. Oh, and this was a brand new crate motor.. zero miles on it. Idled good on the dyno and still made 14-inches of vacuum..
Keep in mind these are FLYWHEEL Power Numbers.. not RWHP..
I am probably breaking some rule but here's the dyno graph..
