the vr1, is that a synthetic or a regular dino oil? I've used valvoline in all my cars up until the transam, and I've nbever had a problem with it, generally it's good.

What's that stuff go for a qt brad, not that it matters... I spend the $ on a good motor I'm not about to skimp on the oil that goes in it. Regular auto parts stores have that too?

it is non syn, but its set up for motors like your new one will be. its not made to run 3000 miles daily, but a few trips around town and a couple track trips is all good.
its good stuff. and pretty cheep, like 2.50/qt

intresting.. I've never heard of an oil that wasn't made to be used for at least 3000 miles. Only problem I see with that stuff is I will drive the car to LVD at least once or twice.. it'a baout a 75 mile trip one way... not sure if that oil will be o.k. with that.

I may use it though, with the intervals that I change oil it might be o.k. I figure that a night out with teh car will be about 30 to 75 miles max, and I do that once, maybe twice a week with it, fridays and saturday nights mostly. I figure with the new motor, I'll drive it home, change the oil, take it out that night, take it home change the oil, do that a couple times and then get on a regular schedule, whatever ken tells me to do, as there's no tripmeter anymore for the mileage to go off of (th400) I'll tallk to him about it once it's finally together, just trying to get some feedback from people that have built setups, and what they are doing.

so you think with my driving, it would be o.k. if I change it once a month? If that's the case, I'm cool with that, at 2.50 a quart, and the napa gold truck filter I use at 7.50 a pop, it would only cost me about 24 bucks to change it... and the mobil one was at least that much or more depending on where I bought it nevermind the filter added in.

Where can you get that stuff... do autoparts stores carry it, or do you have to go somewhere specific? Can you buy it by the drum? If so, maybe getting a drum and a hand pump would be a good idea, just pump it into a measured container so I know how much I'm putting in and be done with it. What do you do?
