Default What's you opinion on an electronic throttle?

How many other companies use this? I haven't really studied it, but off the top of my head the advantages seem to be eliminating the iac and the tps. However, with the sensor by the accelerator pedal, and the throttle blade being controlled electronically, it seems like another thing that can go wrong.

while they are another thing that can go wrong, they are extremely reliable.
most modern cars for the last decade have used them... its nothing really new..

the primary performance advantage i see is throttlebody size.

you used to have to limit the size, because the throttle would otherwise be overly sensitive.
with the PCM controlling it, you can make the throttlebody oversize, then map out the TPS vs blade angle... allowing a nice even tip-in and good pedal feel... while still having a huge throttlebody for less WOT restriction.

Call me crazy, but I can definately feel a sort of "lag" in terms of throttle response with the throttle on my TBSS compared to my 99

The Lag could be torque mangment unless I am sure you have already tuned all or some out!

I hate the electronic throttle in my trailblazer 4.2L. It just doesn't feel like my truck with a cable, or maybe its just me!

they are not even as close to peppy as a cable version...if you stab it, it takes a bit before the engine responds.
