418 c.i. L92 Short Blocks at Texas Speed and Performance!!
#21
Dear... sweet... lord.
Think about it: you can set up a long block with L92 heads and L76 intake for LESS money than a 402 (given the $$$ you save on heads and intake), and likely outperform it, too.
Where was this a year ago when my motor broke?!?
Anyone want to buy a forged 347? (Just kidding. Maybe.)

so where does the 800+ price difference come into play vs a LS2 402/408?? I thought this new block was suppose to be super cheap.
any other cubic inch options available?

not to mention im sure the custom pistons to work with the L92 head's huge valves cost a little more.
what about a 4.1" stroke crank? that would be 429 cubes!

So Zach how much for all this if you reuse my 4.125 crank and rods. Also how many cubes would that give me? I would like to know how much power you guys are seeing from any of these builds. PM me a cost please.

You can use this calculator to determine cubic inches. Just simply fill in the blanks.

With a 4.125" stroke and a 4.065" bore, you're looking at a 428 displacement.

I believe when this block first came out it was established that it could only take a 4" stroke. The liners are too short for more than 4". If I'm wrong correct me please.

# Number of Cylinders are = 8 to 1
# Piston Diameter = 4.080 Inches- SDPC specs on bore
# Piston Oversize = 0.000 Inches
# Engine Stroke = 4.125 Inches
# Computed Engine Displacement (CID) is 431
# Computed Engine Displacement (Litres) is 7.1
# Computed Engine Displacement (CC) is 7070.2
431 CUBES! Now thats what im talking about. id rather see something like this instead of a 418 price quote, not that i can do this type of a build right now. I just broke 1800 miles on my LS2 403 and my clutch is spinning. with the L92 heads and L76 intake, a 431 shoudl make high 500's all day and night with a decent cam. anyone else see what i see? a budget 431 that out performs a LS7?

but builders are using 6.125 + 4.1" stroke
someone is using 6.20" rods and 4.25" stroke on a LS2 with a 4.030 bore

I gotta swap some parts around, get the oil pan off and since I have no rods/pistons in there I'll try and snap a picture of the 4" bore cylinder and L92 combustion chamber.
