Default 2007 Z06 LS7 HPE Heads & Cam Results

My mods:
1) HPE ported heads. Left the runner diameter stock, worked elsewhere in the bowl, ect. Milled to 67cc from 70cc.
Intake
.200/148 cfm .300/226 .400/300 .500/347 .600/ 383 .650/403
Exhaust
.200/132cfm .300/178 .400/220 .500/235 .600/243 .650/250

2) Spec'ed my own cam. XE-R lobed cam 242/248 110+4 .645"/.650", basically a TREX w/ 2 degrees more advance. HPE pushrods and PSI 1511 beehive springs.
3) Cometic .040 head gasket for LS7.
4) American Racing 1 7/8" headers w/ hi flow cats and x pipe.
5) Jeremy Formato ported intake manifold and HPE ported tb
6) Callaway Honker cold air intake
7) Tune by Chuck at HPE

SCR: 11.7:1 DCR 8.9:1

RWHP: 559 (452 stock)
RWTQ: 504 (424 stock) Dynojet

Power comes on really strong at 3000 and pulls to 6800 where it slightly dips to 7100. Exactly what I wanted. Sounds mean as hell. HPE are really good guys to deal with. Steven, Chuck and Josh thanks. I'll see if they can post the graph.

Nice! I was thinking about using a Trex with my L92's. Those LS7's have some awesome flow #'s

Awesome power. Sounds like a strong power curve for a mild setup. Well done.

Who has made the most gains on these with just cam, exhaust and head porting?

Wow nice numbers on the heads, but what is the intake flowing after it was ported.

Sorry I didn't specify, those are after porting flow numbers.

Maybe it' just me, but those #s don't seem fantastic. Headers, ported intake, ported TB, CAI alone should be worth an easy 50rwhp over stock....which means that the head porting/higher compression plus the cam and tune was only worth another 50rwhp?

Still a badass setup....just seems lower than what I would have expected.

Verbs,
Maybe not as high as some internet numbers, but these are real, got in the car and drove back home 250 miles 5 minutes after it made these numbers. Also, air filter was in, belts connected, cats, stock cat back and I think there may be some more left in the tune. It may do 57x with more tuning and a 3" cat back.

I think he meant to ask what did the heads flow with the ported LS7 intake bolted to them. I'd think the intake flow would probably be around 350ish.

Also, I think 560rwhp is a very good number for the mods. No cats/3" exhaust with tuning will easily hit 575rwhp. Take the advance out and possibly eclipse 580rwhp - or take the advance out and keep the cats and still hit 570+rwhp.

I didn't get that number and I don't know if the HPE porter flowed them w/ the intake on. I would imagine they would be similar to what Greg Fell's numbers were on another thread.

I'm fairly new to the LS world, and when I saw some of the numbers that some people are claiming on the internet, I was amazed. I guess some of those claims are just that: numbers posted by bench racers. It's gets even worse on the import forums, where "a cat back exhaust and cold air intake can get you 500 RWHP" (even though it's a FWD car )It's not that I don't believe these figures can be achieved, but a dyno graph speaks volumes. I'm just about to pop a very similar motor in my RX7, and I'm glad to see these horsepower and torque figures . Can't wait.

Yeah I was talking about the manifold sorry I didn't specify. and forget the catback just get a cutout after the collector and drive that around.

Adding headers on a lot of the ZO6s I've seen were making 20rwhp or so peak....and intake/filter upgrades were netting another 20rwhp. That's 40rwhp gain from those two mods alone. I can't fathom that porting your intake manifold and TB wouldn't add another 10rwhp between them, so that leaves about another 50-55rwhp or so from the cam upgrade, tune and head porting (with upped compression).

I know you just can't add them like that, but I've seen a few LS7's upgraded and dynoed in person, and have also seen others results. 40rwhp from cold air intake and headers alone is not abnormal for these cars.

that was a clueless post...you dont just combine gains together to get your total improvement.....

10rwhp intake plus 10 rwhp exhaust plus 5 rwhp TB does not equal 25 rwhp...... if it does you are a ricer!

I'm somewhat with Verbs on this one. For me, it's because the upgrade to 400 cfm heads should seem to net better results. With some 402's hitting 550 rwhp with AFR 225's, one would think the ported LS7 upgrade should net closer to 600 rw. However, this is not a max effort car, and Im sure loosing a few creature comorts could bump the numbers a good bit. It should make for a "sleeper" grocery getter.
