That is a flexible block. It seems that they are really trying to make a new market for this thing.

I like that...makes me happy. Not that I'll be using one in the next 3 years.

I like the technical warning in the caption.

I can't see the video either.

4.5" bore? Are you sure that's not stroke?

That's an awfully large bore diameter for a small block and standard bore spacing.

Max bore is 4.25". Max stroke is 4.5" for the tall deck, and the audio skips when he says what it is for the standard deck. That's from the video so yeah it was just a mispost.

I know it is just representation for PRI, but look at the bore machining on the 2 left cylinders. For some reason the cylinder walls are not consistant in thickness, I mean they are noticably off.

Did you listen to the GM guy explaining that?

The 2 bores on the right side are 'as delivered' and the 2 on the left are bored out to the max. 4.250" to show how much material is left.

Or are you talking about on the thrust sides of the bore vs. the adjoining sides? Those are thinner on the side to keep the bore spacing the same as all the other LSx engines.

I heard him make mention that the right were 4" and the left were 4.25". I just noticed that it looked like the cylinder walls tapered from right to left in decreasing thickness. It just seemed exaggerated on the left cylinders since they were already to the maximum size. Still seems odd to have a block with differing cylinder wall thickness. No doubt it works fine, just caught me off guard.

My engine guy was telling me about a new LSX block coming out in Mar. that has 6 bolts per hole. I can't get the video either. If that's the same block, we plan to use it for a Pro-Charger F-1R project, some day, best block for the money we've ever seen.
I'm drooling already.

only bad thing is the 225lb weight, besides that BAD ***. GMHTP stated in the Feb issue that there may be a Warren Johnson special edition block that is 20-40lbs lighter, for those of us that don't need the extra iron for a 2500hp motor
I'll be waiting for that one.

I think this is about the 100th thread on this block

If you are going to use that block you guys should go with a F2 at the least.

My guess is it's a known effect of the casting they chose, and was taken into consideration when determining the maximum safe bore size. How does the tapered section compare to the thickness of the cylinder wall between adjoining cylinders? Looks to be about the same.

That's because there is obviously a difference in wall thickness when;
- the two 4.250 bores are next to each other
- the two 4.000 bores are next to each other
-there will obviously be more material between the 4.250/4.000" bores.

That block is bad ***. But man, all that weight, is not going into the front of my car. That's for damn sure.

We'll have to see how the Warren Johnson block comes out if they do make it. As we already know how much lighter the Warhawk is...
