LQ9 engine question.
All of the LS series GM blocks sold new come with the main bearing caps (this includes the LQ4/LQ9 6.0 L iron block). All of the LS series engines have single piece rear main seals and require a special installation tool or a lot of care so as to not get the seal lips flipped-over back wards.
Welcome to the world of new generation small block engines. I am 57 years old and have worked with cars and trucks (domestic and foreign) all my life. These are the best designed and manufactured small blocks ever. There is a learning curve, but there are some excellent books on the subject. I would recommend Will Handzel's book on these engines in particular!
All my best,
Steve

Thank you for the reply. I'm planning to build a 408 to put into a C5. I'll have to look up that book that you mentioned, so I can get deeper into the ls series.
