Default L92 heads on LQ9??

What kind of gains can be expected from L92 heads and truck intake on a stock LQ9?

well considering that the 317 Lq9 heads flow around 240ish cfm at .600 and the L92's flow 330cfm ish at .650 i would think you would pick up a good bit. not really sure about the truck intake vs the L76 though. what are you going to be doing this head swap on? car or truck?

How many cc's are the stock LQ9 heads? This may be a factor in the swap. You'll also need a new intake to match the intake ports of the L92. Bottom line, if the compression is about the same (your cc's will determine this) I would expect 45-50HP.

LQ9 heads are just a touch over 71cc so the L92's will bump the compression up just a tiny bit at right under 70cc.

Anybody know how the truck intake flows compared to the LQ4/LQ9 intake?

nope but it "should" make good torque i would think like the long runners on the older truck intakes. forgot to mention that if you milled the heads some you could bump CR some also. it would be more worth wild i would think also if you put a cam in unless you already have one

I don't even have the truck yet. Just planning ahead.

What cam would be good in a LQ9 with L92 heads?

because the exhaust side flows bad compared to the intake side

For a truck you might want shorter duration to keep torque up.
Even take a look at the old hotcam I recon. Its got a wide split. 219/228 from memory.

I think that the power gains from any head are stronly influenced by the rest of the package.
What is the intended usage and power goal of your setup?
IMHO, if you are running a stock cam I would not expect a big jump in power, as
the tiny stock cam will be the cork in the system.
If your future plans include forced induction or nitrous, I will bet the power increase from the L92's will be more significant.
I will be using these heads on my twin turbo project this winter, and hope to post up my results by late spring.

Truck will be a street driver, no track time. I plan to do cam, heads and headers. I'd like to see over 400 at the wheels.

I'd like to do this as well.

A small cam (218 224 115lsa) with those heads should be worth at least 50-60 RWHP.

With everything else being equals beside the exhaust duration, wouldn't you think that if you go with too much exhaust duration you'll start to loose low end torque?

If I did this combo, this would be on my daily driven truck, that's why I'm thinking on the smaller side.

Will the new truck intake (L92) work on the LQ9 with L92 heads? Just wondering if the fuel rail, injectors, TB , etc will bolt up to the L92.

Mill the heads to gain compression, that will bring your torque back.
Also mess around with the lsa to bring your DCR back up.

Yeah the other stuff should bolt up just fine.
