Have you tried it? I took my car to laguna seca and you only use two gears. It was fine. You down shift to 2nd in the braking zone and then leave it until you hit 3rd in the straights. It's fine for a car with a lot of torque. Not only that but you can left foot brake with an auto. I know it's better with a stick but I'm not sure I need to give it up yet. If it comes down to it I'll get a rebuilt T56 6speed. We'll see in 10 days when I time trial at infineon raceway with the A4. I'll let you know how off the manual times I am. The only problem I see is the hairpin at around 40mph that's pretty low for 2nd.

I am having Texas Speed build me a 441. As far as the long stroke being less dependable I wouldnt know, I have been driving an all stroke 395 for 4 years with no problems. I raced a friend of mines twin turbo Cobra out on an open West Texas road and out of 2 runs to 140 he won 1 and I won 1. He made well over 100 rwhp than me and the race he won at 140 mph I was pulling him.

Yes, you CAN do it, but you will never be able to drive a track at over 80%. It just doesn't work. And if you are building mondo hp you will want to be able to use it. And an A4 is not the way to go. Before you throw money away, you would be much better off selling the car and buying a similar 6 speed car and working with that. Been there done that.

This man speaks the truth

It can be done, but it is far from optimum.

pistons + rods + (used) heads + (t3/t4) turbos/supercharged + fuel (Bosch o44 pump and 60lb injectors) + tune= easy 700 rwp you don't need 1k rwp you can do it with decent heads and a decent turbo/supercharged set up

the supercharged would be better for road racing i think... a more linear power delivery

thers a guy down here making something like 730rwp form a procharged STOCK internals c6 MTI did the car. ask them what hes got, i know its lasted a good while.
maybe you would be happy with ~650!!!
i think his sig is BOLLAS on corvette forum

you might have to wrench some ...its worth it!!!

I thought with boosted applications the A4s are better because you don't have to let off the gas and lose all the boost. You can keep your foot in it and don't loose it all out the wastegate, causeing you to weight for the boost to spool up again.

Keep an eye out on this thread https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iv-internal-engine/651346-lg-motorsports-dyno-l92-heads-cam-numbers.html. LG is almost at 500 whp with a stock LS2 short block (364 CI) with the L92/L76 and his cam. Just an FYI as this would be by far the cheaper route to go for your 500 whp goal..
