Default 460 horse out of the question?

LQ9 based 6.0
Dart Pro 225 Heads
Comp 54-446-11 Cam (232/234 595/598 112)
Full Bolt Ons

Ideally, I would like 460 horse and 425ish torque to the wheels? Am I stretching it a bit? I'm also going to spray the car, but I'm curious if my motor only expectations are too high.

For comparison, I've seen several (7, that I have seen graphs for) LS1 cars with bolt ons and this cam only, put down 410-420. I'm thinking the head and the extra 20 cubes will be more than enough to reach my expected power numbers?

In all honsty, what are your thoughts?

think you may want to step the cam up a little.

Thats what everyone is saying, but I'm running a "stock" bottom end. I'm upgrading to ARP hardware, but I won't be running the thing past 7 grand on the tach. I don't want a cam that makes power above the limits of my motor. All the cam mans. (including CamMotion, Comp, LG, etc.) have recommended a 230ish/234ish type cam.

Should I step the cam up because you think a bigger cam will make more power or I need to step the cam up to get to 460 period?

Comp also recommended the 54-448-11 cam. 238/240 605/609 112, but I'm afraid I will have piston to valve clearance issues. I don't want that at all.

You should reach your power goals with that cam and it should have good street manners.

I'd like to put a similar setup (except with a XE-R 228/232 110) into my ford ranger. I just need a 6.0/4l80E combo for the swap.

Owning a GTO I am sure you have seen quite a few of the LS2 guys there making those numbers. But I agree, you might need a more cam in there

I'm just stuck on the cam. I've had a couple different cams spec'd and I think I know what I should go with, but everyone says that I need more cam.

What recommendations do y'all have?

At least something the size of a Trex, MS3/4, G5x3/4.... with a good tune a big camshaft will idle and drive very very well. IMO the cam you have is WAY to small for even an LS1. You are taking the time to build another motor for your car, and you dont daily drive your car, so go bigger with the camshaft, there is no reason not to.

Patrick G made 475 rwhp with a 224 cam in a 346. With the proper setup (11:1 scr or greater, 8.5:1 dcr, ported FAST 90) you will exceed your power goals with the cam you have selected. It doesn't take a monster cam to make big power. I'd do the cam on a 110 instead of a 112. If you don't believe me send Patrick a PM and i'll bet he tells you that your power goals are more than reachable with what many would consider "too small" of a cam.

Magic stick 4 or a G5x4 will do you a hell of alot better than 460, I would say it would be more in the neighbor hood of 480-490ish with those extra cubes.

with the 364 and that sized cam you'll be damn close to 450 with full bolt ons....hell ive seen cam only LS2 GTO's putting down 430+ with cams that size. with a good tune it shouldnt be a problem

I have a basicly the same setup except with a 3600yank stall and 3.42 gears and a low 8.5-1 compression for my blower and it made 420rwhp and 385rwtq on motor. So with a 6 speed it would of been aroung the 450 mark, and that is with low compression!
