A couple of friends came over today to help with the work on the car. I had already pulled everything but the head. We pulled the head and low and behold found the broken piece of rocker sitting right down by the lifters. There were also several very small slivers that we cleaned up. We were able to reconstruct the broken rocker 100%!!!!!

I've got everything back together just waiting for the new rockers from YT.

Needless to say, I was greatly relieved to find the broken piece up top and didn't have to drop the cradle and pull the pan. I haven't been so relieved since Beth had her period back in high school...

I just looked at tracking the rockers. They tried to deliver them today while I was on the golf course. Pretty incredible. I emailed Jim on Monday and the replacement rockers were here today all the way from Melbourne, Au. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!

Oh well, I'll have them Tuesday.

You guys should have seen Kevin when we lifted that head off. He was all ! Talk about one relieved fellow. I know I sure was when he found the piece of rocker sitting right there. Did NOT want to have to drop the cradle, lift the motor, pull the pan.....
It's all pretty much back together. Replace the rockers, button up the valve covers, throw some Dexcool in it, change the oil, and he's back dusting everything on the road!
Always good wrenching with you and Damon, Kevin.
P.S.
Where's the power supply loom for the wideband? Got the gauge, sensor, and loom that goes to the gauge from the sensor. No power supply loom. It's either on the table, or still in the toolbox. OOPS!

Not to be a wise guy but, what makes you think it won't happen again?
If the spring/rocker is not up to the task, bad things -repeat.

I run PAC 1521 springs setup properly by Richard at WCCH for this cam and confirmed by Shawn at VA Speed. 3/8 pushrods and link bar lifters. There are no signs of valve train instability in either dyno charts of closely examining the valve tips. Geometry is perfect.

I think it's just as YT explained and I don't anticipate any more problems. I spoke with Erik Koenig and he runs them on eveyrthing he turns over 7k RPM.

Picked up the rockers from the PO today. Nice, complete set.

Now I just need it to be less than 115 degrees in the garage to install them, change the oil and put the DexCool in.

It's hotter than the 6th ring of hell here

If it's at all like it is down here, you can turn a fan on, and it's like blowing a hair drier on you. LOL.........

It finally rained here this morning so I got the car back together. Installed the rockers, DexCool and an oil change. Brought it up to temp twice and it's all good. Thanks to Jim at Yella Terra for standing behind their rockers 100%. He was quick to respond and I had the replacement rockers all the way from Australia 5 days after I contacted him.

Back to terrorizing the streets!

Kev,

Glad to see you have her back together. If you are like me the slightest miss or rattle draws immediate and through scruntiny. One of these weekends we need to sync up.

Ok; I am up for it. One question; what and where the heck is BK? I will try to get my beast back together. Installing a sub and an amp because Delco head unit went south. Also chasing down an alternator issue.

But I will put Saturday on the calendar even if I have to ride my wife's bicycle

LOL - You live in Manassas and you've never been to the Burger King on Rt 28 just west of 234 parkway??? Lot's of interesting cars there late in the afternoon. The ricers tend to show up later - early evening.

Nope but in my defense I have only been in Manassas for a year and I like to keep a very low profile with my car Cops love ticketing red Vettes or so I am told

See ya on Saturday
