Default My build thread

To start things off, the cam will be a custom grind by B.R.E., the question is what do you think it is capable of making with the perfect cam in your mind. I am going with what Bret spec's out regardless I just was wondering what the opinion of the ultimate potential of the factory ls7 port is. Heads will have port work on the exhaust side, aftermarket TI valves,& valve job. I am looking at between 11.75 and 12.2 SCR. I am doing this no holds barred other than hydraulic roller and I will occasionally have to drive it on the street. I am letting Bret have free reign to do what he feels he needs to reach what my goals are.

As the title says here is my build thread. I have listed items I already possess and items that I NEED. I know that I could REALLY use a rearend, but I am just talking about just to get the engine in the car and running. The car will be completely gone through and be be built bulletproof. Completely new suspension, built tranny, the works. I just am trying to get it running for the Car-Craft Summer Nationals in St. Paul, MN. on July 20-22. Motor will be broken in and tuned on an engine dyno, will have graphs available when that happens. If you see anything I missed on the need column let me know!!

PARTS I ALREADY HAVE

1. Shortblock
a. callies dragonslayer carank
b. callies compstar rods
c. diamond -7cc pistons
d. all bearings
e. drysleeved block
2. intake manifold
3. cylinder head bare cnc castings (LS7)
4. billet steel flywheel
5. LC1 wideband
6. new slave and master cylinder
7. front, rear, and valley covers
8. accessories off of my engine
9. 1 7/8 Kooks headers
10. K member
11. Valve covers
12 Timing chain
13. Lifters
14 Clutch (TEX OZ700)
15. Torque arm (Spohn tunnel mount!!)
16 Oil Pump
17 All new sensors for the block
18 Head studs
19 Rocker arms(factory; HS mod done!!.)
20 All new bolts for covers, and intake manifold
21 Fuel pump
22 Fuel rails(custom aftermarket LS7)
23 injectors (Mototron 60#)
PARTS I STILL NEED

8. plugs
9. wires

12. driveshaft
14. wheels and rear tires (17x9 front, rear either 17x11 or 18x10.5 or 10)

17. header back exhaust (either duals with a x-pipe or 4” y and 3”cat-back with cutout)

If you are building it from scratch, all the bolts you need are a PIA. The intake, covers, cam retainer, oil pump, ect. If you're buying all that stuff seperate, they don't come with the bolts depending on where/who you get them from.

Yes the cam specs will be secret. I respect Bret for wanting to keep the specs secret, as this is how he earns his living. As of now, I have no idea what they will be. Nor do I care, as long as I make a 10 sec pass with it

You can make a 10 sec pass with a stock bottom end but this is a killer project....good luck with the build.

It's just money.

I sold my 1 3/4 and went with American Racing 1 7/8 for the 402.

A few questions:
Who is Brett/whats his specialty?

What are the cubes?

I'm assuming 416 or bigger, so why straight 1 7/8" (and not stepped to 2")?

See sig for cubes.

Brett Bauer of Bauer Racing Engines. Specialty is making horsepower

As far as the headers, Brett said that the straight 1 7/8 would be enough.
