Default LS7 or 427 questions - thinking really hard on this

I've been reading on here trying to pick out a great combo for my Z-28, I've thought about forced induction, nitrous, cubes, etc... After looking at prices I've considered the 427 route, not only for awesome N/A power and torque but for the cool factor, " Yeah I've got a 427! " I've been looking at some of the sponsors custom built motors, shortblocks, but I had a few questions that I hope some of you can answer. With a bore as big as a 427 has, how would the LS2 aftermarket heads do such as the AFR's? Would a LS6 intake be too small to make good N/A horsepower? Also, will all of my accessories and computer work on a 427 shortblock with the LS7 top end, meaning the heads and intake? And finally, I'm sure bigger fuel injectors would be necessary but will the stock Throttle Body be too small to handle the flow a 427 needs? If so which kind of TB would ya'll recommend? Thanks, I'm sure I'll have more questions later on but I wanted to make sure I buy the right parts and know for a fact there will be no fitment issues with this motor. Thanks again,

Mike

Question

No help here, just more of the same questions. I am also building a NA 427.
What do you guys think about heads? 225 AFR w/ Fast 90, LS7 w/ matching intake, L92/L76, or Stage 3 LS6 by one of the tuners, MTI, LPE, Cartek, Patriot, etc? I have HD radiator, LT headers.

After market heads are a good start, but they need some work too to get them where they need to be. As far as intakes, the FAST 90 is the way to go for the big cube motors. That would mean going with the larger TB as well.

Shoot me a PM or email me at Max@Cartek.net if you have any other questions.

That's why I spent the extra coin to do a 427 over a 416. Plus my wife told me that I'd be silly not to get the larger engine!

wish my wife was like that.

I had to hit her in the head with a hammer to even be able to SPEAK to her about an upgrade on the motor.

Your wife have a sister she could hook me up with?

98-LS1, I would just go with a LS2 427 short with either a LS7 topend or a AFR/TF/ETP 225 head or larger. Should be between 540-570rwhp

The LS7 top end is clearly the option of choice on big cube motors like this if you can swing the coin - nobody's cathedral port heads can quite match the flow numbers through the range that the LS7 has. The mid lift flow numbers rival those of top-flight NASCAR heads.

And it's backed up by the real world results - LG motorsports has built a number of LS7 'vettes in the 620 rwhp range with mildly reworked LS7 heads.

I don't know man, I think a set of ET 265's would be a killer top end, I don't know how they compare to the LS7's though.

I would do what SLED28 said, except go to 454 CI like BEAST96Z did.
