LS2 with Patriot Stage 2 heads
I got a buddy with a LS2 in a TB SS and he just got a set of Patriot Stage 2 heads. He will have 1 3/4" Long tube SSW headers as well. I am getting him to look at the VHP 'XXX' cam.....222/228 duration. Anybody have any experience with this cam. The TBSS will be NA for a while then forced induction will be on. He doesn't want to go too big b/c it will be his daily driver. Would the 045....216/224 be a better choice. Thanks for the help as the search button seems to be down.

Yea, he doesn't want to go any bigger I think then that. Just wondering about the characteristics of the cam. Oh, I guess I should have said that his compression will be lowered to approx. 10:1 b/c he wants to go boosted. It won't be the stock 10.9:1.

Stage 2 Patriots with Voodoo 222/228 113LSA .567"/.567" right here.
Mine put down 409hp and 401tq SAE Adjusted (421/411 raw rear numbers). dyno graph is in my sig (hyperlink to the 409/401)
A 222/228 is fairly mild for a daily driver cam.
Now you might run into surging if you are in 4th gear at 20 to 25mph (manual trans). 30mph and higher in 4th is just fine and 55 or higher in 6th is fine (about 1300 rpm in my goat). The surging can be cleared up with a simple tune.
Note: I also went with 1.85" rockers from Comp to get the setup over .600" lift. This didn't add alot of power but added alot of valvetrain noise (been thinking of going back to the stock 1.7's to quiet her down).
Cam type is Lunati Voodoo 60511, heads are Patriot 2031 (stage 2 LS6 64cc chambers with 2.055 intake and 1.57 exhaust valves and .650" springs).

This is everything installed with Cat's, Tuned to pass Emissions for Memphis.
The next thing I plan on doing is getting the LS2 manifold and TB ported out.
If I stayed with 1.7" rocker arms I would have gone with comp 918's on my stock heads (due to the cam not being near .600 lift with 1.7's).
If I had it all to do over again I'ld probably go with a L92 setup.
Since your friend has a Trail Blazer he could go with L92 heads and a Vortec Max manifold and that 222/228 cam. That would probably put him at more power then what I have.

We installed this cam along with the Crane 1.8 rockers in a stock '03 Z06 and made 382 to the wheels with a conservative tune. It drives like a stock car and has a nice lope. Nothing excessive by any means, but enough to tell it has a nice cam in it.
I'll be installing this cam with Dart 225's, FAST 90, and other stuff in my '03 Z06 in a few months.
