ERL Super Deck block. I've used many of them and they are better than a C5R block by far!... They have been tested to 1600 HP without any issues!

Just a little update on the engine. Still no dyno numbers. There has been a lot going on with the car.

Since the last time I updated, the block had to be sent back to fix a leak due to a machining problem. The car then got a roll cage and 5 point harness.

My Dad just got back from the Texas Mile this past weekend. With nothing removed from normal driving and the 315's up front the car went a best of 180.2 mph. He was pretty happy with that. A different cam may be in store, but I think he wants to get some dyno numbers first. Hopefully there will be time soon.

According to Patrick G, It takes 575-600 rwhp to break 180 so the motor should be close to 700hp as hoped.

This one really hasn't had a lot of issues. It was just a machining problem that had to be corrected. Yes, that ends up being a ton of work and a lot of frustration, but other than that it has been fairly smooth.

The good thing is the car is running well. I do think the cam in it could be better suited, but thats another story. As soon as the car gets dynoed, I'll post up the numbers and a sheet if I can get it on here.

Keep us updated for sure. I'm building a 4.155 bore/4.1 stroke LSX block with ETP 265's, BIG solid roller, and a Beck Sheetmetal. Heads and intake should be here this week and Erik at HK is working on the short block right now.

Well, we finally got the car dynoed. Dr. Performance did the runs on a dynojet and used the SAE settings.

I will post the graph tomorrow from school since I don't have a scanner.

Car made: 568.1 RWHP / 530.7 RWTQ.....
450RWTQ from 3K-6.5K RPM

I am rather impressed with the numbers already, but my Dad thinks he wants more power. He's going to be calling LG about a different cam later this week. I think the ls7's like a 15 degree split in duration, and this is with a 4 degree split.

Good results so far. I think you may find more from this combo with a new cam. We have found that the LS7 style heads like smallish intake duration and a lot of exhaust duration.

Default FINALLY...A dyno sheet

Well, my Dad got it scanned in earlier tonight, so here it is.

I can't wait to put a cam with 10 or so more degrees exhaust and see what happens.

The torque curve is great!

Wow, thats great! Your cam is VERY similar to mine. I have a comp cams 242/256 113+2 LSA (111 ICL) (xer/renegade) lobed cam. The lift is quite high at 646/668 int/exh on the LS7 heads, but the PSI beehive springs I have are awesome and control those valves up to 7K rpms. I love the LIGHT valvetrain setup of the LS7 heads. With the larger split i would expect a little bit rougher lower rpm driveability, but it will pull like a train. I ran mine on a mustang dyno, and made 495rwhp/485rwtrq, but that was with my exhaust system which was only good to ~500rwhp, getting a new 3" mandrel bent true duals and expect a nice 40-50rwhp jump with a retune. I can't wait =D Keep us updated!

Best Regards,
Adrian

The exhaust should get you a nice gain. My Dad was at the Texas Mile this past weekend and he went 4mph quicker just by changing from SLP 2otl to dumps after the headers. According to what I've read, that is about a 50 hp gain. I sure wish I could get a gain like that just by changing exhaust.

I'll let everyone know what we decide on for the new cam, and hopefully we can get some numbers by the end of the year.

The next project (before the new cam) is making the GTO faster. I have a set of heads, kooks, ud pulley, and FAST intake so hopefully that will come along nicely too.

This isn't for the SS, but if you knew as much as you thought you did you would already know that.

Those are some solid numbers. Right around where I thought you would dyno based on your mph! Hope to see you guys at the Texas Mile in March. My car should be running with lots more power by then.
