Ordered Patriot Duals a few minutes ago. I should've bought duals from the beginning but weight and price pushed me towards the singles.....never again

Well you guys are not alone, I posted this on the SRT-8 boards as well and was told I was talking old news as a couple of months ago numerous people grenaded motors due to comp 918's breaking.

Not that a new LS1 is cheap but a new 6.1 is about 6 grand, I'd be severly pissed on that one.

Two of mine broke on my LT1. Here is a pick of one:

Mine were ordered July-August 06, which someone else mentioned as the time theirs were ordered and they failed.

Thanks for posting that.

How many of you guys have the batch numbers for your failed springs?

I'm compiling a list. Maybe I should start a dedicated thread on here (i'm running it on two other boards).

EDIT: ***On-going list of batch numbers with a confirmed broken spring found here....please contribute if applicable!***

I unfortunately do not have my batch number, but I do agree with what you are doing. Hopefully the time period will be enough to correspond at least half way with the batch number. I really think if a lot of us come together, something can be done about this in our favor. If you need any help, let me know.

Thats the same batch number as mine, got em from atlanticspeed. I will check em next weekend as the car is going to the track the following week and I want to be sure about em.

cheers

Nice, I've got the same exact batch#. Guess I'll be pulling valve covers to check, especially since it looks like you can drive around without knowing they are broken.

I broke three that I can see so far. I updated the other 918 thread going right now with a pic as well. It looks like all three broke at the top (behive part).

Wow, scary. Luckily I read this thread, I have my valve covers off + rockers & p-rods for inspection before an upcoming track weekend. I'll definitely inspect my 918's for stress cracks, but so far they look pretty good.

I sent one the other day with a link to this thread. Doubt that they actually respond.

Ok guys, I just got off the phone with CompCams and they want to be involved...here's what they/we need from the members here:

If you have any of these broken springs, CompCams wants and needs to talk directly to you! They also of course will want these springs back so they can test them and look into this.

it is VERY difficult (if not impossible) for them to remedy any problems there might be with a spring by reading about it on the internet! So please, call CompCams at 800.999.0853 (that's their toll free tech line), and tell them you've got broken spring(s) and want to know what to do with them! Their customer service is second to none and they want to speak to you! Again, the only way they can fix a problem that might exist is to deal directly with the customer with the springs!!!

Thanks!

I just called the number and the lady transfered me to the warranty department, where I got a recording for a man named "Red".

Matt, do you have a name and direct number of the person that you talked to? I think it would help and we can all talk to the same guy who knows whats going on, instead of multiple people who might not know the whole situation.

Thanks for getting in touch with them for us Matt.

Red in warranty claims is the man to talk to! Leave him a message if he doesn't answer and he will return your call! he knows the situation and is ready for your calls!
