The way i understand it, from one of Tony's posts, the LS3 is an L92 block and heads, but with different internals and a different intake. I think I've read that the LS3 has the so-far-unavalable-in-the-States L76 intake on it. Computer stuff might be tweaked a bit too.

But, I'm not one of those guys in the know or anything.

That looks like an easy way to build an aluminum 427 for less cash using that block, if the prices aren't too bad.

I think they are still extremely relavent and important. Not everyone can rock a 4.06+ bore. Even things with larger bores they still work. Look at Vengeance's 440 in the dyno section. It made 600+ RWHP with TFS 235cc heads and a ported fast 90 intake manifold.

From you web site the G7-x cam has the following lift spec's with a 1.8 rocker (ls7).
X4 -.570 in and .580 ex
http://www.lgmotorsports.com/catalog...oducts_id=1563

If the LS3 is like the L92 and has 1.7" rockers arms wouldn't the lift be reduced to .538 in and .547 ex. If thats the case did you keep the stock springs?

I've been thinking about the 08 C6's and thought a good combo would be the LG G6x3 cam kit (including high lift springs) along with a full exhaust and a tune to hit the 500rwhp mark.

This is really interesting, I can't wait to see it tuned.

But look at the cost difference between TFS heads, and L92's. A L76 looks to outperform a fast 90 also. I expect the same when all are ported.

I think GM is going to dominate the aftermarket, which is fine. It makes performance more accessable to everyone, and the LSx platform is REALLY taking off! I've already started pulling part numbers to start collecting for a lsx 454 with L92's and a L76 (will get both ported also). It will be my winter project.

That's not the cam lift that is shown on the LG website, it's rwhp estimate. Basically, their X4 cam will give 570-580 rwhp in an LS7. The lift is over .600" with a 1.8 rocker.

its time to just start saving towards the crate motor and transmission, LT1s won't be cutting it in a few years even if you can push them to 500hp. Thanks for making me have to save and spend more money!

The L76 intake manifold is available in the states from www.gmpartsdirect.com under part number 12590123 for a price of $540.00 This includes description copied from GMPD web site:
DESCRIPTION: 2006-2008 INTAKE MANIFOLD L76
manifold, injector rail, injector assembly, 90mm throttle body, intake bolts, intake gaskets, map sensor,...L76 style intake

And the L92 heads are PN: 12582713 at a sell price of $413.00 each.

The description given on GMPD web site is kind of lacking listing them just as "Head" but I found the PN in a GMHTP tech article on them. GMHTP said they are assembled complete with valves Springs retainers locks and seals.

Yeah, there's a cost difference but look at the results. We all see L92 heads putting down great flow numbers, but show me some that are putting down the dyno numbers. All the real world results I've seen from the L92 heads have been extremely dissapointing. The cathedral heads are proven performers with tons of research and development in them. Maybe one day the L92 heads will bypass the cathedrals, but not anytime soon.

Um.. what about the engine this thread is about? They are stock L92 castings. I'm sorry you think 484 rwhp from a 376ci engine cam only and untuned is extremely dissapointing.
