Default 402 Short Block Inquiry

I have been kicking around the idea of going with a 402 short block. For those who have had a short block setup for them tell me about who did the work, quality of work, experience, cost range, customer support, payment, what to avoid, etc.

The engine would be an aluminum LS2 block setup for spray and high compression.

Any pertinent information folks can add, please do.

Well there are quite a few sponsors that sell them. Many of whom can set them up anyway you like. A couple more well noted ones are TSP and SDPC.

On that note, there are now several other options to consider other than 402's.

My SDPC 403 has been great. No oil use or smoking at all. I'm happy.

I have a TSP 402, but it only runs 11.25 or so on the cr . I went with the 6 litre heads that are 72cc. I do run it on nitrous and its running strong. Good luck. If you call TSP, ask for Jon R. He is a good guy and will listen and help you out.

You should request a keyed crankshaft just in case you want to add a power adder later. Mine came without a keyway. I assumed that it had one when I ordered the short block. That is what I get for assuming. Gets me every time.

I had to drill it for a pin. Not a big deal, but just a suggestion.

TSP have been good folks. They fixed me up and backed one of their engines when they didn't have to. Thing hits pretty hard.

I have extra room in my garage, and can make extra room in my car if you need some help "storing" them

I bought my SDPC LS2 402 in January 2005 and it runs great. Doesn't burn oil and runs strong.
