That looks like Robin's engine. I couldn't read the article, just by looking at the picture.

Those are C5R heads with some extras welded on for the extra bolts.

Experimental C5R head demonstrates a hand-ported combustion chamber (left) that was used to develop the CNC program for the seriously revamped casting. Opposite it, the chamber is finished from computer tape. Combustion chambers are a scant 27cc. Stealy used 0.051-inch thick Cometic MLS gaskets to seal the aluminum heads to the iron block.

Since the first of the LSX-specific cylinders heads was not quite ready, the C5R casting needing some surgery. Four aluminum bosses welded to the bottom of the casting were drilled and milled to receive the extra studs in the LSX block. Compare these ports with those of the modified head.

Hi Guys

First the bosses were welded to new castings prior to heat treat or machining. They started as C5R castings.

The "experimental" head was the head that we cut and ported. We used that head for development. 1 Port was cut, another hand ported and another CNC'd.

I am currently switching to a revised set of C5R heads. They have larger cumbustion chambers and wider intake bolt spacing as well as other small changes. Like the C5R heads they are not optimum for our large cubic inch nitrous combination. These heads were cast with the additional bolt bosses. This head will probably not be released.

GMPP is currently working on a version much better suited for large cubic inch LSX engines. I am sorry that I cannot discuss that head at this time.

I cannot wait to see these heads!

Robin

Thanks Robin.................Will the new head you can't discuss be in the pipeline to be released to the public soon? I also assume it's a six bolt design as well.
