Default Another LME 454LSX with pics

Well another one of LME's 454 has arrived Unfortunately my build won't be as aggressive as tcr98taws6. I was planning on a 427 build and things got a little crazy. Our goals are similar a very nice driving street car that my wife could drive if I let her

Components include:
GM Bow Tie LSX 454 CID Block
Callies Compstar 4.125" Stroke Crank
Callies Compstar 6.125 Rods
ARP Studs
Wiseco forged 4.187" 9cc VP's
11.68/1 Compression
Cam Motion Custom Cam 252/256 595/595 112 +2
Melling M295 Ported High Volume Oil Pump
Rollmaster Double Roller Timing Chain
TEA Stage III big bore 2.10 intake valve Paris port 317's
TPIS 90mm Intake Manifold
TPIS 90mm Throttle Body
85mm MAF
42# injectors from Speed Inc
Kooks 1 7/8 headers and catted Ypipe
SLP dual dual
T-56 just rebuild by Ellis at Speed secrets
Tex single clutch

My goal is 573rwhp and over 500rwtq. That would give me a nice inrease over my 388 all bore motor. Later I will do a ported fast 90/90 setup and hopefully get a few more horses. If I can get my goal with this setup I just don't see doing a different top end.

I should have the motor\tranny etc in this weekend. Then waiting on a start up tune from wait4meperformance and the rebuilt rockers from Harlan Sharpe. After a little bit of a bread in period I will have it Dyno tuned on the same mustang dyno I did with my 388. Can't wait to get the results.

Break it in on the dyno. You baby it and the rings will never fully seat.

You are going to love this engine. The torque is amazing and builds quickly. You have power instantly at any speed. You're gonna need a big tire budget.

The shortblock was 6500 I think, shipping was about 400, cleaning inspecting heads, assembly misc stuff added a few more grand. I reused my heads and intake so this was kind of a low budget setup. I may do a ported Pewter painted FAST in the future we'll see. I have a feeling this may actually be enough. I mean zero to go to jail speed will probably be 10-11 seconds max.

I have more pics of everything assembled I'll post up tomorrow and by tomorrow night it should be in the car and a roller again, I'm just waiting on the balancer and the rockers to show up!

Yah its not bad. Actually cheaper than a resleeve considering custom crank and pistons (427's 4inch crank and 4.125 pistons where quite a bit cheaper). When I took the 388 out I was thinking of going two ways, one sell everything and do a forge 346 with stock 317 heads and a d series Procharger. I've always wanted a blown car. But I think if I take everything into consideration this may have been a cheaper route....Plus I think I'll end up with bit more torque

Why didn't GM put a two piece front cover on these for easier cam changes. I guess you can't get everything.

You can pick one up for under 6K. Rotating parts aren't the same though.

Its going in my 99 SS hardtop you can kinda see the car in the background pics.

The engine, transmission and suspension are in the car. I should be getting the balancer and rocker arms today and hopefully have her running this week. I have Thurs-Friday off so unless something crazy comes up I should be rolling then drive it around for an hour or so then head to the dyno

I guess it part of the keeping the cost as low as they can while providing an excellent block.

You always have QTP for the two piece timing cover.

I have a 454 LSX Motor as well, was built for boost, but no kits can support over 1000RWHP on a goat right now... well without being totally custom. Please post back up the hp/tq numbers!
