My problem with this is that there's no new DI injectors. The Solstice/Skyy GXP guys are having the problem of finding larger injectors once they out-horsepower theirs. We will too, unless the aftermarket steps up REAL quick.

The new CTS models have an option for a direct injection 3.5L. It picks up somewhere around 30 horsepower and torque over the standard 3.5L and supposedly gets better gas mileage. So, it seems pretty reasonable to think that you could pick up over 50 horsepower from the 6.2L by just going to the DI system (even more with E85 apparently). It's great to see the GM engineers continue to refine and update the small block so that it doesn't become obsolete. I wonder how easy the new Gen V could be transferred in a retrofit situation, though. That may be a little tough. Time will tell.
The biggest problem that people have with the DI engines that GM uses are their mechanical fuel injection pumps. They make a huge amount of noise. You basically use a system like a diesel where one pump brings the fuel to the injection pump and the injection pump raises the pressure and distributes it. And you thought that replacing 1 fuel pump was expensive!
This is right off of GMs website:
Available in the Buick Regal CXL, the Ecotec 2.0L turbo (LHU) is a next-generation derivative of the Ecotec 2.0L turbo LNF engine, introduced for the 2007 model year and the first North American engine with direct injection.

Is there any LS news over there in the USA yet about direct injection.
I know here in Australia in 2013 we are getting the VF commodore it will be an LS 5.3L with direct injection and all Holden dealers right now are have massive sales trying to clear floor stock to make way for the new models for next year.

Agreed. I have a new Regal CXL that is DI. Damn thing sounds like a diesel. Kinda sketchy too IMO.
One thing I am curious of. If they are using roughly the same style DI setup as a diesel (the DI pump is on top of the motor by the valve cover on my Regal), is the DI pump and injectors going to need to be replaced in 150k like on the Duramax's? Is it going to cost $800 for ONE injector like the diesels?
If so, can you imagine buying a set of injectors when you've maxed out the stockers? My dad just put over $2000 into a Duramax at work for a pump and 1 or 2 injectors....
Seems like that would really hurt the mod market.

Reposting the photo from above because I'm getting a red X.
I find the waterpump offset location to be interesting and I'm still not convinced on what the pump below it is for; I kinda think it could be a remote reservoir power steering pump.
