yes that is correct, and you should have a 1/8" gap to the pp with the tOB all teh way back.

The engine looks good

What I got from piston manufacturers and local shop owners.

Pros:
-Reduced ring flutter
-Better oil control
-More power

Cons:
-Drastically reduced ring life
-Gas ports will plug over time especially in a street motor

Hey I asked Jermey At MPH to answer that question, As I have know idea What your talking about!!

Drastically reduced ring life ?? Wow thats sounds great can anyone else tell me if thats true??

What is a Gas port??

Here's a quote from Ross pistons, "Many ROSS Racing Pistons are custom made to the customer's specifications simply because no one piston design is correct for all applications. Different types of racing require different piston designs. Not only does the type of racing, head style, induction system, fuel and camshaft specifications affect the design features of a racing piston, but different engine types have their own needs. Gas ports allow cylinder pressure to go directly behind the top ring and aid in sealing. Gas ports are very effective when used with tight ring grooves and high ring positioning."

# Not recommended with blowers, dyke rings, or in endurance motors.
# Top gas ports not recommended for street or other applications where carbon will fill them up.

They are the little pin holes in the top (verticle) and side by the rings (lateral) of the piston.

Your build/parts list shows,
"Wiseco 4.187” custom forged nitrous pistons w/ lateral gas ports & tool steel pins".

I believe this type of gas porting is a series of radial channels milled into the upper portion of the top ring land and if that's the case you may not be able to see them when the short block is assembled.

If you can get that, you need to start buying as many as you can and selling them. What kind of heads are on these motors you are talking about???

Let's do a little math here.

Shortblock $6200
Heads $1700
Cam $350
Intake $250
Timing Chain$100
Injectors $400

That is 9K right there and there is no labor.

Not calling you a liar at all. I would just question the quality of the engine at that price.

Fast, reliable, cheap. You can only pick 2.

Oil pump
Headers
Balancer
injectors
Motormounts
Tranny mounts
Clutch
Starter
fuel system
cat back
9" with driveshaft
Performance transmission
The list never ends$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$4

When I get some time I will list the cost for this build!!! Its probably around $13,000

Yahtzee, you shouldn't be able to see lateral gas with the shortblock assembled.

You don't typically gas port a street piston - they'll eventually plug up anyway.

My car is well over the 25k mark, probably around 14 in the engine alone. add headers, rear, fuel, wheels, clutch, transmission, suspension, Wheels I don't know that I'd want to do the math for real, thats not counting all the mistakes!!!!! And I did all the labor except put my long block together.

Okay this isn't the same block but it can give you an idea of what is done with a drop off and pick up job
http://www.motorsporttech.com/fbody_engine02.asp

I met a guy up in MI at the eckler's show...
Livernois had a 404 in his c6 and I think it put down right at 600!
According to that fellow he had about 120K including the price of the car....ouchies!
