Latest budget 427 developments
I'm considering an engine upgrade. I've done a lot of searching, but I want to make sure I catch the latest on LS2-based 427 packages.
I know that Katech has their 'budget' 427, but I don't know if you can run L92 heads on it or not.
I've heard that SDPC has a 427 long block, but I can't find it on their website.
I've heard that Texas Speed also has a 427 long block, but their website is hosed.
Are there others? I'm not looking for crazy power. In fact, I'd like to make the car more streetable than it is now with its semi-aggressive LS1. If I could hit 500/500 at the wheels on CA 91 gas and no low-RPM surging, I'd be a happy man.
Any thoughts/opinions would be helpful,

We have our 427 cid LS7 long-block package starting at $9,999 using our PRC ported LS7 cylinder heads with hollow-stem intake valves. We have already built quite a few 427 cid LS7 long-blocks for customers that wanted to use our ported L92 cylinder heads. a 427 cid LS7 long-block with L92 cylinder heads would start in the $9,200 range. If you'd like, shoot me an e-mail at trevor@texas-speed.com, and I will be happy to put an itemized estimate together for you so you can see what the build will cost and what exactly will be included. 500 RWHP would be a walk in the park, even with a very streetable/driveable camshaft.

Save the money and just build a 416ci setup.

Low RPM surging is all in the tune- unless your "on the cam".
FWIW.
I will say though that the support from SDPC is not quite what it could be. The dipstick hole was drilled too large in my block causing an oil leak. Brian at SPDC told me that they were aware of the problem and that they would provide me with a fix. It's been 5 months now and they have not done this. I have called and left several messages and Brian won't call me back.
Other than that it is fine.
