Default L92 CNC Vs. Standard L92

I was just curious what is the big deal on the L92 heads that scoggin Dickies sales..They have sets that arent cnc'd for 500 each or that have been cnc'd for like 600ea. Whats the big deal? What part is CNC'd?chambers? Is it worth the extra $$??Thanks

We've flow tested those heads as well as the prc l92 heads next to each other. Both sell for about 1000-1100 for the pair fully cnc ported. Our PRC L92 heads gained 25rwhp over a stock l92 head on our dyno test engine! Pay a couple hundred extra bucks & get the prc cnc ported heads, you'll get better p/v, better air flow, & better power than the stock l92 head!

What are you thinking about installing this thing on?

How much more airflow on the exhaust side is gained from the CNC heads vs. the stock L92 head?

Talk to Richard @ West Coast Cylinder Heads. Hes probably got the best CNC program for the L92s right now. Def one of the best exhaust ports. They're more expensive but worth the money. And good on a 6.0 too. They're a board sponsor too.

Would you say go with the ported set on a 364 LS2 4 inch bore with a 228 cam?

Not to hijack the thread but I cubes has a lot to do with it.

I have a set of Richards heads on mine and it makes good power to 6500 rpm. They look like a work of art.

We are putting the higher rev range down to increased exhaust flow. I don't think we have nailed it with the right cam yet.

cheers

You might search under my user name on l92 heads, we have tons of dyno data from engine dyno testing. We've produced past the 560rwhp mark with a m6 f-body running our l92 heads on a 418! I've even installed l92 ported heads on my stock cam a6 vette that made over 400rwhp with no cam!

Nice graph. Looks like things are leveling out around 6K, which is fine for my application.
did anyone say if its worth the extra $800 bucks for the CNC, I know for max out it is but for a DD, ocasional track guy??? Or even more so for the budget limited guy

Didnt realized the L92s were such a nice head still I started reading on them. Seems like the downfall is lack of intakemanifold choices. Does anyone know if/when FAST or any other companies will have one out?

Has anyone read the GMHP article where Golen built a 402 w/ L92 heads? Close to 600hp.
Golen did their own work on the heads. Here's the link.

Enjoy.

Just in case any one wasn't clear on this. The CNC L92 heads that SDPC sells are the PRC CNC heads.

Those are engine dyno numbers. I do that with a cam with much less duration and on straight pump gas.

Sorry to steal your thunder. They sell GMPP's CNC L92 heads more often than they sell the PRC's. But they can get anyone interested in the PRC heads setup too!
