Default LS6 cam in a LQ4?

I've been thinking about and planning for the LS1 swap in my car for a while. But, I think I'll go with a LQ4 instead due to the L92 heads/intake will fit, they are a little cheaper, and the have a few more cubes. I won't have the money to do any modifications to it once I get it installed (other than headers/exhaust and a good flowing intake). What I've been thinking (since I have replace the truck intake manifold) is to get a LS6 intake and cam and install it in the stock LQ4. I know that's not going to be a big punch in power, but I won't have the money to install an aftermarket cam...and I don't think that I want a truck cam in my car. What do you all think? Would the LS6 cam see a better power-band than the truck cam? Does the LS6 intake fit the LQ4 heads? Will it run with the truck tune?

THe ls6 cam will work great and the LS6 intake goes on fine. Just use the front coolant crossover, and not the truck one that goes front to rear.

Alright. I've been doing some reading on how to get that work correctly in a 3rd gen and all I've read is about the front crossover.
What about fuel rails and injectors? Won't I need LS6/1 fueling to get it to work with the intake?

the stock rails for the ls1/6 are all you will need as well as LS1 injectors. Try to get '02 28lb injectors.

Won't the injectors with the truck intake work with the LS6 intake? If not, I'll try to find a complete intake with injectors, rails, etc.

truck injectors are shorter, have different connectors and will not work with the ls1/6 manifold because of their length. When you get your harness made, make sure you have Ls1 style injector connectors.

Oh...dang. Thanks for the information. My orginal plan was to use a 99+ LS1 and harness. I knew I'd need a F-Body LS1 accesories set and oil pan, but hadn't though about the injectors/connectors. If I can find a set of injectors connectors from a LS1, could I just wire them into the truck harness? Or would it be better to just get a 99+ LS1 F-body harness?

if you are just going to cut down a factory harness, then the '99 and up will work fine.

Alright. I was hoping to avoid as much cutting as possible. But, if I get a truck pull out (most likely course), I'll have a truck harness and then get a car harness...lol.

the maf and injectors are different. You can buy LS1 inj conn for about $40.
The truck maf has a built in intake air temp sensor. LS1 (f body) has a separate IAT sensor. So, if you have a truck Maf, then you use the truck connector, or buy the IAT connector and sensor from an f body and pull the tan and black wire out. If you have the LS1 harness and maf, your set.

This isn't as complicated as it sounds... I hope. I'll need to get a LS6 intake, LS1 wiring harness, fuel rails, injectors, and MAF. I'd need to just discard the truck harness, then right?
Thanks for the help, BTW.

FWIW,

I have an 01 LS6 cam in my LQ4 with 11:1 compression in my 92 chevy 4x4 and it rips. The cam is definately worth it. It has to rev to 6500+, I think the stock cam would peter out at about 6 or a little less.

My compression will be stock, but that's because I'm just using this as a base. I plan to build a L92 406 later on. I'm glad to hear I will have good results from my idea. Now...if I can get the money and all the parts lined up. lol
