SBC Pistons in LQ4?
i have a set of flat top ross racing pistons for a 383 that i CANNOT get rid of so i was wondering if theyd work in a 370 with minor mods? they would end up in the hole a little, i know, but i do believe that it would net me ~9-9.5:1. i even nhave a set of total seal rings to go with them so all id need is a decent set of rods with a .927 small end. yes, no, maybe, im crazy?

The SBC pistons, if I'm not mistaken, are not built to clear the reluctor wheel on these LSx engines. That's the biggest issue I see immediately....someone else can surely elaborate and expand on that.

Well, Like matt said, the SBC piston isn't designed to clear the reluctor wheel on LSx engines, so you'd have to check that and modify them in necessary. Remember, what you do one, you need to do to the other 7 to balance them all.
Also, the SBC and the LS1 have different bank offsets. By bank offset I mean how far the passenger side (1,3,5,& 7) sit further forward than the driver side bank (2,4,6,& 8). So, because of that the pin boss may rub on the sides of the small end of the rod so you'd have to grind that away as well. I hear of people doing it, but i would rather not.
Just my 2 cents.

Plus now we have real on center LS1 rods so the rods don't have to be modified all the time anymore. It took a long time to convince Eagle to even make LSx specific rods but now they sell out all the time. Unfortunately they're almost always all sold out even as we speak again.
