Default 383cid LS6 Aluminum Stroker Short Block

Getting ready to possibly order this assembled engine from Texas Speed. Looking for a nice head and cam combo. Probley going to go with the fast 92/92 combo. Suggestions guys please. This is new for me, and I'd like as much feedback as possible before I do all this. I want it to be a solid track car and a nasty street machine. What would you guys go with?

A set of AFR 225's would work very well on a 383 especially with the FAST combo. Just be very careful with your cam selection and make sure you run enough compression if you are going to stay NA. (somewhere around 11.5 scr and 8.7dcr) The 383's need more cam than a 346, so make sure you get someone who knows what they're doing to spec your cam/head combo.
(Patrick G and JRP come to mind here) Also, the guys at TSP should point you in the right direction as far as that goes.

man that sounds like a good setup, i went with som tsp heads and cam on my 383, ms4 was my cam choice with a set of the stage 2.5 5.3 heads. car runs solid 11.0's on motor, this is a ful weight street car too

I was looking for a similar setup myself. I decided I was going to go with an LS2 402 instead because I could use L92 heads down the road if I wanted to. The difference in price would not be that much and I think the extra torque would make it worth it. Plus you can use a way bigger cam and still retain some good street manners. If your going to stay with an alluminum block I say you should go with a 402. Either way good luck with your setup.

Fifedogg makes a good point. An LS2 402 with L92 head would probably be the same price or cheaper than a 383 LS1 with AFR heads.

You can make nice power with a 383. You can make much better power spending the same or less with a larger bore.
Slow down, do some research about valve shrouding with the 3.905 bore. You will be glad You did.
