Well first of all, I am gonna replace them, most probably... But if the valves ever came out and they were all in spec, I dont need to replace them... because its in spec and although I know the history of it, im sure engine builders will agree with me on this and keep it if it meets specifications..
Damnit, so now I gotta also get some valves.

As far as lifters go, I have the morels as well, they are some really nice pieces, but you should be fine getting the GM high-rev lifters.

I never had any trouble with any of the lifters I used but it never stopped me from putting in better ones each time I swapped to a bigger cam. You could use the regular comp replacements if you wanted to not the comp r's. I've not used the R's but was steered away from them anyway. The regular comp replacements worked fine for me. 238/244 is not a mild cam btw.
I'm not telling you to spend more money, you asked for suggestions and that's what you got. To be perfectly honest I'm using the Morel HTL in my new engine, even more money than the regulars but I consider it to be a very important part so I'm looking at the options and making the choice to go with the best I can find for peice of mind.

So why is the LS7 not a good lifter for this cam?
I usually dont cheap out on products, in fact I get made fun of within my friends for usually spending a lot of money on a little bit of better quaility items... Why I am now trying to conserve some money is because this year I unexpectedly spent 5k+ on a new 402 and Im still in debt and now there is more and more things to spend on... Thats why...

Not that I've heard but I have heard of issues with the caddy's as well. I guess I misread and thought you had an issue with an ls7.
I know someone who was doing a cams swap and swapped out his ls7's on his c6 z06 to the caddys and the oil pressure was real low. He did a bunch of seaching and cleaning looking for any obstructions, found nothing but the Ls7's back and all was fine. Was most bizarre.

Guys, a 238/244 113LSA cam in a 402 is like a 228/234 114LSA cam in a 346. This is not a big cam. Also, with the small valves or these 5.3 heads, the 402 is going to need more overlap than a much larger head (like an L92). Just can't make the same comparison. A 402 with small heads will easily gobble up this cam. Wouldn't have been my cam choice for L92 heads, but it will rock with these 5.3 heads.

When W2W built the 402 that I am running, Billy suggested that the stock LS1 were fine for my application. I think that when it is freshened up, I will go with the Morel for piece of mind. If you do a search, there are pics that show you how much more beef the Morel's have. Good luck.

The morels GUARANTEED will hold up better then the GM lifters. I'm running Morel lifters, and they are a serious piece of equipment. Whether your application is extreme enough to call for the morels, I would probably say no. But if you want that absolute guarantee, then the morels are your best bet. Only thing with the Morels is once you get them installed, and the heads installed, you HAVE TO measure with a pushrod length checker to 0 preload, meaning the lifter is on the base circle of the cam, and you measure right up until the rocker arm, then add .02" to the length for your pushrod, for your cold preload, so you WILL NEED custom length pushrods for the intake/exhaust lobes (if they have different base circles).
Otherwise, the LS7 lifters will suffice, and thats what I would recommend, but like I said, for that absolute guarantee, the Morels are your BEST bet.
