Well I have to be honest I'm cornfused now..LOL
I thought you were thinking about the caddys but then decided to stay with the ls7's?

Whats springs are you going to run? what lobes on the cam? There is a lot to matching it all up.

That is where it is all at. The whole thing is a system. From the cam lobe to the valve tip. It all has to work together. It needs to be as light as possible but rigid at the same time.

The springs are PRC double springs, theyre beefy

They come on the PRC 5.3 heads stg 2.5

Lemme try n list everything

Whatever TSP PRC 5.3 stg 2. heads come with thats what I have.

Although I was just checking my valves and Im very confused

the PRC heads have 2.02 int and 1.575 exh valves, he told me to make sure I dont have the 2.04, because it can either have 2.04 and 2.02. So I measured them..

I keep measuring mine and these are the measurments Im getting..

1.600" exh and 2.18" int...

2.18" is a Huuugeeee size, I dont get why Im getting this measurement.

could TSP actually accidentally installed this valve on their 5.3 heads??

I measured it 6 times, I got a lowest reading of 2.16 and I turned the valve and got 2.18... then every time 2.18. I even wiped off carbon to see if that was the difference...

no, 2.18" again.. wtf??

This is what I had before, stock 90k mile Ls1 with brand new Tv3 cam(now damaged) and 5.3 heads... this is the engine I had with caddy lifters

Now I have a 402, 238/244 cam, and reusing those 5.3 heads... This is the engine I wanna use my Ls7 lifters on because of bad experiences with caddy lifters

So the Caddy lifters are what I had in my old engine, LS1.. The caddy lifter collapsed which caused my engine to get damaged. WHich is NOW why im going with a 402 instead.. and Im NOW gonna use the LS7s, vs the Caddy lifters, which , like I mentioned I had in my old LS1....the only thing Im reusing from the old LS1, and thats being transferred to the 402 is my oil pan and 5.3 heads, Im replaceing a couple valves, the cam, maybe the rockers to the Harland sharps... I may use my pushrods, depending on if I need to. I have the 7.400"

my heads arent milled, but I am gonna run a slightly thinner gasket than before...

LSGunZ28 - I run the LS7 lifters on my setup. Cam is also ground on XFI lobes. I do have lightweight intake valves and the upgraded AFR dual springs with more pressure. The current shift points are set at 7200 rpms. I may bring it down to 6800 or so, but I will play around with it at the track. Otherwise there is no problem.

BTW - How are measuring the valves? Post a pic using a dial caliper and valve with the LCD showing the measurements.

Are you still going to ask how I measured my valves after I corrected that it was 2.018" not 2.18" or did u miss that point?

I know how to use the dial caliper, for some reason I read it wrong. I havent used one since dec 2007. I havent been doing anything automotive since then. Im losing my touch. :-/

Everything breaks. if more than 1 person is running something in the HP world, one of them is gong to break sooner or later.

If you don't want to worry about breakage, don't start it.
