Looking for ported LS7 heads
We are looking to upgrade a customers C6Z06 with a automatic swap. The car now has a Late Model LSX 427, 12:1 comp, stock ls7 heads, unported intake, AMR headers, 254/262 .630/.624 114+4, currently running 275 shot but plan to go to 350-400, and a Precision 3600 stall. We are shooting for a extra 50whp on motor when we take the car to drag week. What heads would be best, porting the intake, tb, maybe raising the stall speed? I see us picking up 40whp with the heads amd intake realisticly.

You're going to want to look at a set of ETP 4.1 bore LS7 heads. Running a 350-400 shot, you're going to need the thicker deck thickness over the stock GM heads. You can also get the ETP LS7 heads in a 6 bolt setup for even better clamping force against your HUGE cylinder pressures.
ETP in your case is the way to go... Also, get a sheetmetal intake for that thing lol.

Don't the ET heads marginally flow better than stock ls7 heads? From the flow #'s I have found they flow about 40cfm less than ported ls7 heads that are out now. Does ET flow there heads differantly than most?

We've made great power gains with installing our PRC LS7 heads in place of factory ls7 heads. That being said you really do need a thicker deck. From what I hear you'll only see about 5-10hp gains from the ETP LS7 head, but the thicker deck that head offers will be huge when running that much nitrous!! I'm suprised the stock head has liked the 275 shot....

With the best, you're also looking at close to 7K for a fully setup set of heads. If its within your budget definitely go for it!!!
But, if 7K is unreasonable for your budget, then you might want to look at the "second" best option, and that would be the ET LS7 6-bolt heads. Talk to Craig at ETP and i'm sure they can port them for more power. But, there is no way you will be running stock ported GM LS7 heads with that compression, and that much nitrous. You need a thicker deck for better insurance, period.
BTW, what pistons are you running in that motor?

The cost varies depending on application. Basically they range from $3950.00 to $5500.00. They're available with stainless, titanium and inconel valve materials. We can set them up for hyd. or solid roller valve springs depending on your requirements.
The LSW heads will need a Jesel or T&D rocker system and they run between $1450.00-$1650.00.

I get concerned when I see people make blanket assumptins about the LS7 heads. More people have killed Horsepower by porting their heads. Remember they are CNC ported from the factory. You really think that they leave that much on the table. I don't think so.
The LS7 is designed to drive nice, pass emmisions and make power. Now in a performance application you don't need 2 out of the 3. IMO the chamber tends to promote tumble to aid emmisions. It works very well for it's intended porpose as well as lifts below .700.
The valve spring pockets are small, the valvetrain is a pain with the pedistals being part of the head and the deck is not as thick as you would need in a high horsepower deal.
I would look at the ET 6 bolt LS7 heads.
Good luck!
