Then next time I will use 6qt of VR1... and a full bottle of EOS until 20 miles driven... and repeat... again til 120 miles... EOS is hard to obtain here so I may use STP instead..(if this is okay) - but I heard someone saying red bottle, but mine is a blue bottle...

so is my use of RotellaT terrible? , I will only be idling it the first time...
or is my plan bad and I should just drain that unused Rotella T and just use 6qt VR1 from the start??

also 20w 50?? or something lighter?

because I was using mobil 5w30 before in my LS1, I understand this is a new motor, but the whole life use VR1??

sorry I hope all these make sense...

All of that sounds fine. I would just add the whole bottle in the beginning of the STP additive. Blue bottle is fine, its just a thicker oil (i believe, I can't remember if the red or blue is thicker) but they are the same thing.
Forget the EOS since it is hard to get a hold of, and use the STP bottle instead, it'll do the same thing, and run the VR1 exclusively after you run the rotella and vR1 together.

Pretty scared about using the 28# stock injectors actually, just make sure that you're not going WOT, and or make sure that you have your log file with a wideband sensor going before you drive it, because those things will not come anywhere near fueling your motor. Running too lean with fry your rings on a new motor as well, and do some serious damage.

Good deal! Just makin sure you weren't planning on any WOT runs with those injectors!

When is the motor going to get started? It seemed like its been almost 3 months now...

installing rockers wrong, using arp studs vs the original bolts I had, having to re order parts, changing shop locations, etc.. all have taken time away from my engine build.. mainly waiting on parts... so Hopefully, since my engine is done... Im just waiting for a t-56 rear seal, I will put the trans and motor back in the car on monday and maybe fire her up monday or tuesday... or sometime next week...

hopefully..

Where do you get the STP oil additive? Is it labled as their "OIL Treatment" in the blue bottle? I will have 500 mi on new LS2 with Rotella 15-40 tomorrow. I have some VR1 20-50 and would like to do the STP if I can find it. Thanks

Yes, I believe the "oil treatment" in the blue 15oz? (i can't remember the measure, but its small) bottle is the stuff you're looking for. Read the back, and it should say its heavy in zinc etc...

LSGun, Good luck man, sorry to hear of all the issues!! You should take some pics, and post them up!

Thanks I will...

The SPT Blue additive, I think may be called oil treatment...

But yes it is 15 oz and it says ZDDP in small letters in the front, I saw them at autozone and kragen, but even at walmart, so its popular...

I personally run 20-50 oil because of the clearances in my motors. Oil weight recommendation would be on a case to case basis.

I run 20W50, as I would recommend for anyone with forged crankshaft/ H series bearings.

Something interesting

That is was a good read. Actually their whole website almost mirrors this thread. Seems like the SynPower provides pretty much what everyone is looking for. Might be a better alternative to the Mobil 1. Thanks for the link.

For my 500 mile oil change, I put the 20W50 in last nite with a bottle of the STP. That should hold it until the 1000 mile oil change. Motor is forged but not sure about bearings. The rods are H beam so I guess the bearings are.

Having H beam rods have nothing to do with what bearings you run. The H-series bearings are for crankshafts that have increased fillets on the journals, and the bearings have increased chamfers which increases clearances between the bearing and the over-sized fillets on the crank.

Your oil choice is looking good.

If anyone cares i called Valvoline tech line today and they recommend changing the VR1 at 3,000 miles. They said it should have no problem lasting that long at all.
