Default Texas Speed engines

I see that Texas Speed is a sponsor here but was wondering if anyone has had an engine built from them?
So far they look like the best to buy from with the options you can get. I'm going to have them build a LS7 427ci based engine with these options.
Diamond pistons, Callies Crank & rods, ARP stud kit, Aluminum block vs. LSX for weight, titanium / stainless valves, upgrade valve springs but not sure on the intake. Not sure if I sould go for the stock or a FAST or a sheet metal intake. I'm having this built for an offroad car so I'll need more torque than HP but still have enough steam in it for haulin' across the desert.
Does anyone have some ideas as for intake manifolds and T-bodies?
Any help would be appreicated.

Thanks in advance.

your intake is going to depend on the heads you run. You cant run the FAST on a LS7 style head.

I believe Texas Speed does not actually built their own shortblocks, they buy them. I heard they get them from the same place that SDPC does.

So where does SDPC get their engines?

I was going to run stock LS7 cnc'd heads anyways. How are the stock rocker arms? or should I but some T&D's or Jesel?

Not sure where they get them, but I know it's local to TSP.

Sunset Racecraft were the ones to build my TSP motor. Honestly, It might be worth you while to call Sunset Racecraft and get a price from them to directly build your motor to see if it might save you some money. Either way I have one from TSP/Racecraft that I am getting ready to go solid roller with. Good luck to you.

Not sure bout that I seen there whare house and some guys turning wrenches on short blocks. Plus spdc short blocks are 500 to 1k more than what tsp sell their motors. Just dosent seem right to me unless there are some back door drop offs

See that's funny to me because I have purchased a 632 from Sunset a few years ago. There were somethings that I thought that should of been done but I guess if you order one of their engines you have to pay for every little detail. I could be wrong but that's what I saw when I opened up the motor after a season of runs.
I'm not saying they are bad because I see that they build quite a few engines for the guys in drag racing and are doing good with them.
I can give them a call since I know Tracy over there.

Actually, I'm running an Albin's Trans. Geez the trans alone is the most expensive thing on the whole car. But I was told that is the weak link in the whole off road buggy deal. So I went with one of the best out there. I'm sure there are a couple more out there but if you look around most people are running Albins.

My old 383 built by Texas Speed is still running strong 4 years 38,000 miles and 3 owners later. We beat the living crap out of the engine running a lot of 1/4 mile, auto cross, and road course events.

"some guys": That would be me. I finish out the assembled shortblocks into longblocks and further. You probably seen some engines getting shipped out, unless it was me working on one of my own, depends on if it was the weekend or weekday.

We're lucky to have a race engine shop of the caliber that we use so close to TSP. Tracy and the guys build a ton of big HP engines, our little 600hp+ engines are nothing compared to the BBC buildups for the big dog guys. Its nice to know that he is using a set of our PRC 6.2L CNC heads on his own personal engine buildup also.

mebuiltit: Unless its some crazy one-off engine, Tracy would probably refer you to one of his biggest customers; TSP, and there is probably one similar on the shelf or currently being built. I did assemble 2 on Friday into longblocks with PRC LS7 heads.

BTW if you run any sort of camshaft on the LS7 heads, take the stock rockers and send them to Harland Sharp to have an upgraded bearing kit installed in them.
